I have 0 backlinks from competitors. However, it ranks first. Is there any way to check the pbn of a site like this?

To check a site's PBN or assess its backlinks, use SEO tools like Ahrefs, Moz, or SEMrush.

Any PBN that can be easily spotted with Ahrefs, Semrush or similar tools is probably not useful.

PBNs are hard to spot especially if the owner knows what they're doing.

To have a chance you need to use tools lile Bing Webmasters tools and add your competitor website in the backlinks section. It'll load some of their links but still not 100%.

@backdavid backlinks are not the only reason your competitor is ranking above your site. They might be much more optimized than yours or already have established certain level of authority.

Trying to figure out their PBN is not a good use of your time, especially if you're not even in the top 10 results.

Focus on fixing any issues there might be your site/page. Then probably check other 9 sites on the first page, preferably top 3. Look at how optimized they are.

at least spin / rewrite the content you steal, for God's sake, don't just copy-paste it! SMH

OP: backlinks - as important as they are - are not always the only reason for ranking. Content quality and topical authority also play a role in rankings, your competition might be beating you with one of these.

Anyway, someone had shared a method for finding hidden backlinks, but I can't find it at the moment. If I ever find it I'll post it here, but you should look for it, too. 2 heads are better than 1 :)

I believe your competition is beating you with Topical Authority. It's not all about backlinks, I've outranked sites with more backlinks than I have with just good topical authority. I have more content in that topic than they have and so I am able to rank around that topic easier even with less links.

You can use online tools like Moz, Ahrefs, or SEMrush to check for potential PBN backlinks of your competitor's site, which may contribute to their high ranking.

Look for social signals like shares, likes, and comments on the website's content.
You can analysis site pbn using tools like Ahrefs, Moz, SEMrush, or Majestic

Most probably, that guy has had his own PBN and it hides links from Ahrefs, Moz, SEMrush, etc.

Your competitor might use hidden links. Concentrate on building links for your site and create quality content.

Hard to say if it's a PBN or not. It could be a little bit of topical authority as well.
