So here is my review on the this service:
I’m using an offshore hosting for the same reasons as the next guy who needs a privacy protection service.
I decided to go with theonionhost after
@Rachmaninoff recommended them in his
Micro streaming site, not before I’ve contacted
@stromind and told him about my type of online activity and made sure they are okay with it and even more important, they will keep my privacy safe.
The purchasing phase, their system is extremely user friendly and easy to navigate, and the same goes to making the payment, I personally used the crypto option, which went flawlessly and fast.
My server was up in no time, and the backend of the admin panel is also very easy to navigate and user friendly, as I had to make some changes in order to get php control panel configured on my VPS, I accidentally bought the wrong type of VPS for it, which wasn’t a big problem because
@stromind is very responsive (I asked a lot of questions before the purchase, and made many requests after it) and easy going, nice to work with - which is a big bonus for me.
Performance wise, I don’t know what they are feeding their hardware with, but right now the vps with one Wordpress site (many else to be installed on it as well) is ultra fast, below 1ms loading time for Europe, which is amazing because my websites are for Germany, and Wordpress is kind of heavy on systems, I can say that because I have fully custom made from scratch php sites to compare with, and I was very worried about the performance, but theonionhost nailed this one as well.
Moreover, once I will start to gain some profits from my websites, I’m definitely upgrading to theonionhost dedicated servers, I bet each of them is a beast.
