Where is the bill gates. He wrote one algorithm that was top algorithm for finding / searching for 40 years. I don't recall the exact algorithm name.

Bill Gates didn't really contribute to the development of programming itself. Being a good programmer or developing something popular or useful or whatever, doesn't get you on this list. This list is strictly about people who contributed to development of programming itself.

well said and very true. what we enjoy doing today would not be possible were it not for those pioneers. I envy them but I guess it must have been stressing.
