The world needs new social networks

I left (almost) all personal social media last year and it feels fantastic. I still have Linkedin, but not active on it. I got so much time back and feels good not to be glued to my phone.

I think The world needs back to the offline social networks.
This.

Poetic and beautiful in theory, but there are millions of people who live far from their families and thousands more who depend on the ads for work...
People lived before the internet, let alone before the social networks and they did all that in more functional societies. You don't need social networks to connect with people. Instant messaging services serve that purpose since the late 90s, if connecting via phone call/SMS is too 20th century.

Just start walking down the street and count how many people are buried in their phones (doing very important things such as scrolling through their meaningless social media feeds). Or go to a bar with friends and count the minutes before just a few and eventually most of them will start to fidget with their phones. Or watch the reactions, when a social network goes down just for an hour or two. It's like the world is ending.

People became the slaves of their phones thanks to social media, it's a part of their existence now. It's an instinct to whip the phone out in any and every situation for no good reason. The younger the generation, the bigger the issue.

I never use any. Not sure if it’s different not growing up with them. Facebook didn’t exist until I was in my 20s. I lived most of my life without them and that continued.

The world needs more FORUMS like BHW, not new social networks :P

You can have as many "new" social networks as you want. Facebook was fantastic from 2006 to 2012 and then they sold themselves. Today it is just a money-making and propaganda network.

So you could come up with a new idea, new features, etc. for your own social network and you know what will happen?
Either Facebook is simply going to buy your network by offering an amount of money you won't refuse or they will simply take your features and implement them themselves. Example? Look at YouTube or Instagram, which turned into some kind of TikTok themselves. Or Facebook and YouTube who also turned into some kinda Twitch.
Totally agree.
