The Universe Simulation hypothesis. What is your Take?

It has been discussed on the Internet for years. The idea is not new, it is old as the world and dates back to the ancient greeks and their the shadows in the cave concept.
Elon Musk is a big believer that we live in a computer simulation.

So how do you think?

While the idea in theory seems possible, it is far less likely that we are in an actual simulation program, and MORE likely that God is real and exists and created all of this. You can even go so far as to assume from God's perspective, this can be a simulation theory for Him...not to us. We don't know or are aware that parallel universes exist and that an infinite amount of simulations could have played out this very moment. But it's far more believable that God exists and created the universe than some other advanced species or even future humans created this simulation program.

Isn't it interesting how people are more open to the possibility of a simulation reality/existence but not in the possibility of almighty and loving God who is behind all of this thing we call life?

If this is a simulation, think about it, play it out in your head. Then that means there must exist another realm or existence outside of this simulation. Then in that reality, what created that? What gave them life to get to the point where they could be intelligent enough to create our simulation? Do you see where I am getting at? At some point, there must have been a begining, a creator, a creation of all things. You can't just say this is a simulation theory that exists...by who? Then who created that person or species and where did all of that come from? It's an endless loop you'd be trapped in just asking and answering the same questions over and over with no point.

That's why simulation theory is not the answer. It will always fail and fall short to answer the bigger question of God.

I believe this is called in philosophical terms "existential fallacy".

Some friendly advice from someone who's almost got burned himself:

Keep your religion out of it, it is against BHW rules, another thread got closed because of discussion about religion.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from BHW banhammer judgment day.

My girlfriend brings this up every time we/she drink. I don't think we are, but we could be.

Therein lies the problem you see. You just proved it. You use the same application to this argument and that is why one can never get to the truth of it because it would never be allowed to be discussed in the first place. It has nothing to do with my religion. It's a perfectly reasonable and rationale explanation that simulation theory cannot answer and will always fail and fall short to answering. Keep your mind open.

Don't bitch when you get banned then, yo have been friendly warned...

Why do you turn this into a personal attack? All I shared was an answer to the question. This is not personal. You are the only one who is attacking verbally.
Please don't verbally assault people.

How is he verbally assaulting anyone? He was nice and warned you about the fact that religion isn't allowed to be discussed on this Internet Marketing forum. I mean, I'm sure there are forums dedicated to religion, how about going there? Or /r/religion or something.

I only answered it one time. I simply mentioned the word God/religion which is found in many other people's answers. I was not aware you cannot say the word God or religion in this debate about simulation theory. Thanks for the warning but no need to say harsh things. It's not like I repetitively kept talking about it. It was one reply.

Fair enough, no hate from me here. Have a good day. :)

All I can say is if a small virus made humans look clueless we have to be humble when we talk about something as mysterious as the universe.

Jesus Christ, how is this a personal attack? I was just pointing out a rule on BHW, no need to make it personal, really... You are not that important!

The idea of us being simulated with some kind of computer has already been disproved as you need exponentially more and more computing power.

here is a short summary of calculations made:

They discovered that the complexity of the simulation increased exponentially with the number of particles being simulated.

If the complexity grew linearly with the number of particles being simulated, then doubling the number of particles would mean doubling the computing power required.

If the sim is a real thing don't you think that whoever/whatever is running this sim has figured out a way to have the necessary computer power also, I mean if you can sim life, PC power might not really be an issue at all...

Well this was proven based on premise that civilization like ours / within this universe would be able to run such a simulation (from what i understood). If there are beings that can simulate such a word then they are not even from this universe. If we go this route then anything is possible.

By only rendering what is visible for any one observer on one planets view the computing power could be dramatically reduced to simulate a universe.

Photons collapsing from a wave into a particle when observed is akin to the world rendering when you look at it in a video game.

iv heard about this for years. but i dont think thats the case at all as a christan, and if it was who ever is controlling my life sucks at this game lol
