The Universe Simulation hypothesis. What is your Take?

It has been discussed on the Internet for years. The idea is not new, it is old as the world and dates back to the ancient greeks and their the shadows in the cave concept.
Elon Musk is a big believer that we live in a computer simulation.

So how do you think?

From a very rational standpoint, it might be real. The only question is: Are we in the simulation? Or will we be the first ones, who will make a simulation?

Just think about it: The technology is growing so fast that we seriously have to consider this stuff could be real.

Imagine this is like a video game and the devs just keep publishing addons:

- religion addon
- nuclear weapons addon
- technology addon
- time travel addon

Or they just push a few buttons and see what will happen.

"HEHE lets make 3 different races...black, yellow and white....then lets see what will happen HEHE"
"Hey lets make the humans more violent so they kill each other HEHE"
"Let us make them destroy their own planet LOL"

Sometimes I think about it too. Yet, this idea was in on quite old South park episode.
 
Elon Musk hit the nail on the head. Likelihood we're in base reality is 1-in-billions.

Has anyone else considered that if we are in a simulation that the goal could be some form or research with yourself being what is studied? ie. your reaction to certain life events is observed, how do you react to extreme stress, how do you react to making a lot of money, how do you grow as a person over time.

It would make a good religion/cult if you were looking to think of an idea for one.

If you think about it, being in simulation, life looks simple and not stressful. I believe in this stuff, we are all in a video game of a 6 year old playing it forever.

I think a lot on what is the mission. Recently I have thought about it for a night.
Just from my perspective, I may suggest that someone uses the universe in order to gain some computation power. Let's assume it as an investment for long term.
They create many universes and seed there life and wait as it matures in Homo Sapiens - AI - Dyson sphere AI - Galaxy Civilization. For some point of view mankind today is a big computer. Just imagine how big this might be in future.
They, the so called investors use the matured universe with the super-advanced form of intelligence in order to compute and create something even bigger. Or maybe to maintain their life and infrastructure.
 
I think that this story of simulation especially allows people to better visualize the intangible. Our reality is far too developed to be able to be simulated by technology in my opinion. I think all of this is infinitely more complex to understand with our only reflection of being human

This is a super interesting idea. Yeah it could make sense, or something similar to this.

No, i don't, it is a nice hypothesis to ponder but the evidence for it is so incredibly thin that I am not convinced that this is a real option

Like who is running the sim and why
 
We are not in a simulation, but it's obvious that our reality is anti-paradoxical or constrained (i.e. speed of light, energies not becoming infinite in sigularities, etc), that means there is an upper reality on which our reality stands, call it metaverse or hyper-reality, that's where paradoxes occur and the location of our reality in that metaverse is a "safe zone", like the habitable zone of solar systems.
 
I read somewhere about a good teory about this

If we are able to make an universe with people self conscious and we don’t have any moral problem doing that then the chances of being in a simulated Universe are pretty high.

Therefore in that case we would be simulated on a simulated on a simulated - etc. We would be pretty far away from the original one.
 
Spiritual philosophies say that realites of each people is some kind of simulation (everyone sees the world differently , reacts , attitude is different) and also there is a prototype , which is not a simulation but the true version of the universe as the god created it (enlightenment) , where u feel and see everything in the form of buoyant energy of infinite love.
Your reality (simulation) is formed due to your attitudes to the events which are happening throughout your life . Have you noticed that u feel like in some kind of mental cage when u form as an adult? And what 99.9% of people dont know is that they can deform and change their simulations (reality) , and even reach the prototype .
When u take drugs lole LSD u can clearly see that and touch this understanding , but drugs can just be a glimpse into that , it wont change ur simulation .
