That's what's wrong, IMO.
Think of it as a scale of trust and activity relation, 1 to 10 sort of thing in Reddit's eyes. 1-10 in terms of your account's trust, and 1-10 in terms of the shadiness of the activity you try to perform, combined.
1 is "You registered 3 minutes ago with Google auto nickname, using a spammy datacenter proxy, and you try to message 500 accounts right away? Fuck right off, instant permaban"
10 is "So, you were here for 10 years, logged in every day, chatted with people, we have a gorillion of info on your activity, and you're trying to upvote something? Yup, you're doing it freely."
Reddit has many, MANY, accounts in 10 years club, 5 year club, and so on. Constant human activity for years.
SURE, 2, 3, 5 days warm-up is better than none. However, it's still, like, barely a 2 / 10 in Reddit's eyes. And you're trying to make a sub, basically reserve a place for your interests in their community. Of course it's an action that triggers the filter, and what do they see when "they" take a closer look? Your few days of commenting? It's a a reason to flag you and ban the shit out of whatever you, a miserably untrustworthy account, are trying to create.
You're right. IMO karma exists for three reasons:
1. So account sellers can charge you extra $20 for $5 worth of upvotes from microworkers (on an account post, of course)
2. So that-one-mod in r/transcatlovers is %0,133298 less likely to flag you manually.
3. So u/tothemoon1999 is a little more likely to believe in your shitcoin suggestion.
Reddit's inner filters don't give two shits about karma. It's a social thing. Not a real decision-making factor for the system, but a rough, twisted, obfuscated, simplified reflection of it.
