yes and yes.

1. i didn't post on CL to get emails, i already had a large number from another source that were perfectly suited for this (as in target market).

2. The ecard sites mentioned in here DO make nice looking ecards BUT the ability to include HTML in the final card is not present in all of the sites. So i took a bit of tradeoff and did a test, fancy ecard with no HTML versus average looking ecard with HTML allowed. Didn't find much variance between the two. if anything the average ecard with HTML worked marginally better (because people on a whole are lazy) and as long as your message to the punter is good it will work fine.

3. I wrote a bit of php to automatically fill the fields of the form and punch through my list of emails, rather than doing each one by hand. If you do this make sure to sleep for .5-1 sec between http requests so you dont hammer the site and draw attention to yourself. I also ran this from a dedi and not from my home connection.

4. yes i made a nice little bit of money (enough for a nice holiday, which i need)

Yes, but how long does it take to personalize each. Is the time worth it? What is your ROI in terms of time you take versus money.
