able to give back
being able to give back
Last Holiday season I actually got involved. I did a lot with toys for tots and was buying car loads of toys at a time. A local car dealer had a huge drop off location and I would take time during the day and hit up Target and just fill carts with toys - I would literally spend hours there - thinking of what kids would like - and seeing things like the ninja turtle toys and transformers being re-created brought back a lot of memories. I have nieces so I am pretty up to date on the "hot" toys for the holiday season and last year Doc McStuffins was the one...people were literally going after those toys like animals on the shelf. Since I would hit these places mid day while everyone else was behind a desk at work I would often see mid day shipments getting brought out. The Doc McStuffins doll was impossible to find and they put 3 of them out. There was a mother and daughter in the store and the kid went apeshit over it and the mom was trying to explain that it was too expensive etc.
What is it that people think they have 'taken' that causes the need to 'give back', and why do people feel that the only thing that can satisfy them is 'giving back'?
It's a very specific choice of words - 'giving back'. It's not the same as the words 'being generous' or 'volunteering to help the homeless' - it's 'giving back'...
I haven't taken anything that I feel the need to give back - I don't feel guilty in any way for my situation, because I'm the sole cause of it.
What is it that these 'give-back' folk are trying to appease themselves of?
Don't mistake my tone as judgment - it's certainly not. It's punctuated only by question marks (both literally and figuratively
