They still carry weight, example I found today http://asmaassad.com/

Still powerful. I have some EMD ranking on top 20 without any backlinks. Just unique contents and EMD.

Another bullshit myth. I splittest this with several EMDs vs putting kws on a larger site with no emd.

Rankings = 00000000000.00000000000000000 difference- both ranked equally quickly for their relative competitions.

Depends on how good you are at SEO. Real SEO means to rank a brand name for your keywords.

They have always carried weight.

It's always easier to rank with an EMD.com/net/org versus a non-emd domain, still is.

They have always carried weight.

After the first Panda hit SEO 'experts' were all on about EMDs having lost their power, even Matt done a vid mentioning it, (more disinformation from G.)

I still like em and rank em.;)

relaying on EMD's is the worst thing you can do.

it still has a lot of weight IMO, but a good SEO would rank without the EMD as well.. from my experience, it has the same weight as it had before panda.

yes EMD still powerful and next G updates it will still powerful too .....

One advantage is definitely at anchor diversity.

You can brand link with the domain name as anchor, and you got both: natural brand + exact keyword.

Many EMDs i have were on page two with zero backlinks but good onpage SEO. So EMD is still powerfull.

In just a few days I ranked a EMD #4 with zero banklinks and almost no content. Very little competition, though.

That's the exact reason it works well.. Rep added

EMD's definately do carry rank, theres one 5 spots above me for my main keyword and he has 200 reffering domains from 30 class c ip's. My site has 1400 reffering domains from 1000 class c's

Aged domains have more power than EMDs.
I've done a few experiments and found that aged domains are easier to rank than brand new EMDs.

I also noticed the same thing. I am on #20 of a 90K exact. It's not an EMD but 11 years old domain. Just need a small web 2.0 blast. :)

I believe this thread is more a political advertising than anything else.

But if we have to talk about EMD, I guess it's not all true.
I googled "book" and don't see book.com in first page.
I googled "computer" and don't see computer.com in the first page while computer.org is #9.

Not true, that example was just me following a news item this morning about Mrs Assad, and checked the EMD just below Wikipedia, nothing political at all. :)

An EMD can give you some advantage, but EMD are not what they used to be. And their power will be further reduced y search engines, because to many people use them to spam and rank

Are you talking about dropped domains with no content or an old site?
