    Hey everyone,

I'm in a good mood so I've decided to share this method of mine. It is an offline marketing method and will require about $500 initial investment, but you will make your money back fairly quickly.

Basically, we are going to build an opt-in list and use it to promote special events at bars and nightclubs.

Step 1) You are going to have to spend some money here and print out legit looking special events cards for a made up nightclub. Don't cheap out on these event cards, they have to look professional. I'm sure you've seen similar cards lying around your local university campus, pick one up and copy it while making subtle changes. Anyways, on your copy of the event cards you will have something like "visit whatever(dot)com for info about free cover".

Step 2) Litter your local university and college campuses. Litter the library, litter the dorms, litter classrooms, litter everywhere. Go outside, start handing out these cards to the students! Don't be shy ;)

Step 3) You will have droves of students visit your website because they think they will get free passes or something to avoid the cover charge at this made up night-club. You are basically going to make an attractive looking website with a 1 page email submit that will sign up for your opt-in list. Basically, you are going to tell students that the free passes will be emailed to their email account. Now, you have a nice opt-in list of drunk college students :D

Step 4) Your social skills will play a major role here. Basically, you are going to go around town and try to contact every bar/nightclub owner you can think of. I'm going to warn you ahead of time, you will probably have no nightclub/bar owner take you seriously at first since you don't have any references. You are basically a nobody right now!

You are going to offer your services for free. You will tell the bar/club owner that you will promote their bar/nightclub for 1 weekend free. You will find at least one owner who will be willing to take your deal.

Heres the good part. You will simply be emailing your opt-in list about the special event.

Most likely, the bar/club owner will be impressed that you were able to bring in a bunch of customers that they will start paying you to do it next weekend, and every weekend after that. I currently make $2000 a weekend doing this ;)

That is a sweet idea...I bet that would work just about anywhere. Does the bar owner give you a coupon that you send out in the e-mail?

    From my experience no.

I usually just scan the event card from the bar i'm promoting so the email can have a nice graphic, then i just give people what they want to hear.

ex: $2 shots until midnight! $3 domestics etc...

To avoid the $500 initial investment could I just skip the 1st step and go straight to the owners?
Or post an event ad on Craigslist with a photochopped version of a special event card with my site on it mentioning the free cover?

people seem to be too lazy to do offsite stuff or things that take a little effort! lol

but that works out better for those that dont mind taking action - this has given me a cool idea and i actually like the offsite part of IM

    thanks

    You can do this.

I personally don't know a thing about promoting nightclubs. However, as an internet marketer my method of thinking is generally: get targeted leads->profit.

When i did this a while back i had no idea whether it would work or not. I knew some people were making some good money just for filling nightclubs up with people. I got an idea in my head so i went with it and it ended up making me a nice income stream.

i used to been involved in promoting a number of clubs at one time, the managers will love you to do this as well as provide them with flyer design, and distribution, printing, etc as they simply dont have the time to do it and in most instances are too busy running the bar and bizarely enough there marketing manager ends up usually with someone who hasnt a clue with what they are doing let alone understanding even basic photoshop...

its a cool thing to get into if you like the club/bar scene as you will get great hookups too providing your bringing in the crowd...

plenty of areas to upsell too... talk to them about bluetooth and regular text messaging... etc...

Don't these cheapo students all turn up asking for their entry?

Or have they forgotten about that by the time they turn up?

edit: wtf this thread is 2 years old!

Wouldn't social media aka Facebook be an easier way to target these people? Create pages, events... etc. Because I know I wouldn't pick things off the ground...

I do club promotions in the dallas area.
I have been doing that way before I was into IM.

This use to work years ago.

Now clubs don't want this type of people.
because it fills the club .... but... these free loaders don't buy shit.

and the clubs make money at the bar....so at the end of the night
the bar has does not make enough money.

You want to promote clubs... facebook is the place.

Patricholier, can you share how you might use this for your project - looking at some other implementations.

    thanks
