The New BHW is Live

Love the new design! I'm glad you kept it old fashioned to have that good old bhw feel, yet it's professional and smooth in navigation. A++ I'll keep testing it and post any suggestions if anything comes in mind. Excellent job guys!

We're running through some edits and changes to the look and feel but  otherwise we're there finally with the new generation of BHW. It would  be great to have your feedback and thoughts on the new platform, design,  UI, UX and anything else that takes your fancy.
But you said that ^^^ New generation. Changes to look and feel. New platform, design ux etc.. But if only changes to Font is did as you mentioned, then your job is not complete

Also UX is the satisfaction (pleasure) of interaction between me and the website. If I stated the website needs more colors more vibe etc, then that means UX is not complete either because y pleasure is not good

But yea it does look nice, more cleaner ...lol

And whats up with my JR VIP. I had JR VIP before the changes. I thought I was grandfathered in man. Ben in this forum since 2008. I got upgraded to VIP a long time ago and had it for years

Thanks for the feedback Sristy re your comment on page views down and Alexa rank down through using XF what do you base that on? Personal experience or general assumptions?

Thanks Aty that's a good point we've placed the thanks counter on the LHS as that's where people usually look for the thanks. But could switch them around. We'll have a look on the back end.

Thanks for your comments MiLiTARYiV we stated ".....new platform, design, UI, UX...." the new platform bit relates to the full re-write. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Re your Jr. VIP you've made one payment for Jr. VIP in 2014. If you believe this is in error please contact http://support.blackhatworld.com with your payment reference and they will look into this for you. We don't have a lifetime option for Jr. VIP.

I like the overall sharpness but I think few things are missing or at least one that I use and probably others and few things I don't like.

I think the "thread tools" was used bu most of us at least I am using them. On the new platform you only have "watch thread" which is easier just to press it but I like the options to rearrange the threads in separate folders like tutorials, services, etc. I am not sure but it looks like this will not be present on the new platform.

The thing I don't like is the stripes for Jr.VIP and removal of the star system rating. I always like the donor image with a man bowing his hat little bit like a form of a respect, like a true donor...call me old school but I will miss that.
 
Just keep in mind what has happened to the Warrior Forum and CPAHero since they did there Facelifts earlier this year....

Massive decline in traffic and loss in Alexa rank...change pisses people off...remember that.

It's almost impossible to change a forum and have it come-out more successful. I've seen many a forum lose its steam do to a Facelift.

Sometimes its better to go with the old "If its not broken, don't fix it"

Dealing with the easy one first the "random image problem" . The big Logo is the op - the last person to post is the smaller image. Where either has a broken avatar then it looks a bit funky. As Avatars are moved across this will improve.

Re username sizes. More a dynamic thing but will look at increasing a couple font sizes.

I've fixed my avatar problem by changing my profile pic from .gif to .jpeg.
- can't find a way to change my Location on the new platform.
- When I open "Quick Navigation" and select "Your Account" the page shows "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action".
I've tried the new version on my phone and it looks awesome !
 
I like the look, just the stars were a nice feature hopefully you can be able to integrate that in the future :)
 
Thanks - star rating is based on the number of posts you've made. We've kept this metric but without the stars.

I will elaborate from my previous post;

1. The gradient where the red arrow is looks terrible in my honest opinion.

2. I feel like the names are too small, and larger names were seemingly and somewhat unique to BHW. It has a 'feel' to it.

3. The JR. VIP badge looks horrendous. I'd rather have no badge.

Also, will there be a white theme? I'm currently using the lighter one on BHW.
 
1) "Thanks" is called "Likes", "Ratings" and "Thanks" on different places of the new forum. I would prefer "Thanks".
3) Usernames are too small, it was already mentioned quite a few times above, so it's not really a new addition, but i do agree. Although maybe we just feel it this way, because on the current design, they're quite big.
4) If it's the final stage, the "Reply" and "Quote" button should be bigger too.
4) I agree with Apricot, the Jr VIP badge is pretty bad in itself and doesn't go well with the design, it extends over the avatar, i'm not sure if it's intentional or not though.
5) "Posts" is called "Messages". I prefer "Posts". Also on the profile page it's called "Postings".
6) No "Report Post" button, i guess this one will be added later.

+1 A star system with re-designed stars would be good, it's a lot easier to distinguish between member levels just by looking at them. If the stars need to go :(, maybe try to figure out something else to achieve the same.

Not everything is bad though, it's just that it's easier to point out the cons. Overall it looks good and it's fast, i mean very fast. :)
I'm not really a fan of changes like most people, but we will get used to the new look eventually.
 
the BHW color scheme Black n Gold is always painful for my eyes. the current one is better as it has the Backlight vb4 templete too.
Can you please add the same to the new one?
I cant find the option anywhere.
 
No offence but interface feels more like of digital point minus green color theme.
 
Will there be an upgrade to emojis? I want to :100: :ok_hand:

Also if 'Like' is used instead of 'Thanks' expect an increase in trolling.
