I don't really know too much about second life, but was wondering...

Would it be possible to do affiliate marketing inside the game. Like,
could you somehow program your avatar to go talk to people and
tell them about your offer?

Maybe you could even get a couple accounts going at once, if this
is even possible....

Lol, this reminds me of that ewhoring post. If this was possible you'd have an army of whores =) lol

if it were possible i would send an army or orcs to rape them all

The last time I had a fiddle with 2nd life there were computer things you could earn virtual money by filling in surveys. I assume someone on the other end was making a buck or two from each survey.

Good idea. Cant try it myself, my PC is too crappy to run Second Life for now.

Yeah, it should be possible, but for the offer to work, the other guy would need to click on your affiliates link obviously, not sure if you can browse the web while inside the 2nd life game though.

You could also "incentivize" the offers by offering some virtual item or some of the games currency if the guy completes the offer.

Not sure if this is ok with the TOS of Second Life, or more importantly, of the CPA networks.

One thing though, dont overdo it if you try this. Have you seen Yahoo chat recently? 90% of the users seem to be either some stupid SpamBot or an e-whore...
It would ruin the game experience a bit if every corner you turn, some dude approaches you and pushes his CPA offers to you. I am sure Second Life would take action to stop this if it becomes too prevalent.

take a look at this:

and for integrating affiliatepages in second life read:

and with the copybot you should be able to make an army of ...
