Dear all,

I have been implementing the link wheel concept.. worked fantastic for one keyword. Put my money page in position 3 after 2 days. However, with a further 2 more keywords.. it has failed to even rank them at all.
What am I doing wrong?
Has anyone else found results like this?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Owain

link wheel works.. but its not a miracle, pick better easier keywords, just because you use a link wheel doesnt gaurantee a first page placement.

my guess would be that for the keywords that you aren't getting rankings for, it's because there is too much competition for that keyword.

where can i find a "link wheel course" I have been searching for 2 days now.

Please help.

It's a competition problem. Linkwheels work much better when competition is low. My rule of thumb is if you input your key phrase into Google like this: "key words". It should return less than 5,000 hits. Putting the keywords in apostrophes like that returns pages that use that exact phrase.

When you say "hits" do you mean indexed pages, websites, etc...or do you mean search volume?

Remember, there's the google sandbox. You could be in it.

Just keep going. Sometimes, for no reason, a linkwheel fails. In my experience it's not even that strongly related to competition or any action I've taken / not taken. Sometimes, Google just says "no". Other times, however, it says "bend me over and spank". Keep on going and you will be giving Mr G a good spanking sooner rather than later.

Another potential problem is a banned segment of the wheel. Check your wheel and verify that everythings still up.

My 2 cents:

a) I would not completely close the wheele. Closed wheel can work today, but if you are working longer term, it may stop working. Why take that chance?

b) are you using dupe content. That can be the problem as well. Use well-spun or cheaply authored ($1 range) articles for the web 2.0 properties.

c) agree with KW research

linkwheels work good for competition upto 50k.a lot also depends on the strength of competition.
also mix somethings with linkwheels:
like angela's backlinks
and some high pr blog comments
and there you go dominating the serps.

linkwheel is not the holy segment of SEO, without good backlinks your site will fail anyway
