Yes, it can work. I'm focusing on Reddit posts that are already ranking on Google, some of them don't have more than three comments

We can feed the reddit post to AI and ask to generate relevant comment which looks natural, short, valuable and have our link embeded.

I have a similar setup and definitely reddit and quora are perfect for this. I definitely get organic hits, even if the numbers are low, it doesn't require any effort, and as the number of articles I create increases, I can reach a noticeable number of visitors.
