You should pay for it if you live in the US, it's only $6. This is the first time a major film has been released online before theaters and it's a huge step forward. The more of a success it is, the more others will want to do it.

I still don't plan on watching the movie, but I know what you mean, OldSalt. Now, people will watch it simply because it has become this "forbidden" movie, to see why North Korea found the movie controversial, or to show North Korea that "you can't tell us what to watch" (I would assume that it works on the same principles as the 'stick it to the man' niche).

I confirm that is a great marketing hit - I like the 2 main actors but I don't think the movie is so "great" - I've watched it already via VOD system that is working perfect in Spain too. As well, I saw already tons of links in torrents sites and is the 1st movie above 5/10 IMDB that is released as torrent in the same day as the box office opening. So can be a huge step ahead.

Use a VPN to buy it from Google. Show the theaters that we can watch movies in a better way.

We decided to buy the copy tonight and we just finished watching it. It was actually a better movie than I was expecting. We found there was more to it and although we knew it was a comedy, we were surprised at how funny it really was.
I'd rate it at 4.5 stars out of 5. Good for Sony for finding the cojones to actually release it. It will probably mean that there will be even more data released (at least that was part of the threat before)... but it was good that they stood up and released it anyway.
