Anytime a headline reads "the internet is freaking out", thats a desperate attempt to convince you to click on the article to make something thats not a big deal, into becoming "A Big Deal and freaking out". Journalism today sucks.

My two cents for your thoughts.

Usually when they say "the internet is freaking out," they're only talking about one of three sites: twitter, facebook or reddit. As if these three sites make up the entire internet.

If I cared about what people said on social media I'd be on social media. I don't even know how reporting on public opinion expressed through text speak is considered news.

Its like editorial/commentary is actually news. Journalism is in a sad state for sure

I'm still pondering how Google managed to overtake Yahoo and MSN, years later. Back in the day, many people had either yahoo or hotmail emails and now most seem to use gmail.

People who fall for these articles mostly are the ones who are either scared, curious or hope that there must be something inside it

Yeah, but I'd have to either put the hat over the hoody or take the hoody out. I'd rather not do the latter is it would take too long. I'll tag you in the main Santa hat thread when it's done.

The common folk will claim everyone uses Google because it has better search results, but let's face it, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference for the same reason they can't differentiate between a good car and a bad car; they don't understand it.

Google, at the time, offered something Yahoo and MSN didn't; simplicity. You just had a search page and that was it. I know Google was cool with the ethnic teens as well; I remember seeing them using Gmail because they thought the 'G' stood for 'gangster'. It didn't help that Gmail was ghetto back then, either (remember the spam problem?). Then more teens started using it and then adults transitioned over to it because "the younger generation understands these thingamajigs better than us, so Google must be the way to go". At least, that was the transition I saw over here in California and also in Arizona.
