I haven't been personally using spun content since around 2013, as I have been lucky enough to have good writing connections. I am considering using it again on T2's for a new strategy. So I was wondering what the state of spun content is currently. Has Google continued to crack down on it, or have things stabilized? Are any of you seeing effectiveness using it still?

You can still use it on T2+

But if your rich and have the money to waste then go ahead and get good quality content.

I wouldnt

I am ranking a site on the first page with nothing but spun content. Saying that I did manually rewrite the content for it to make sense. 1000 words took me about 15 mins of editing. Works well.

Speech to text makes it take about that long to knock out a unique 500+ word document as well. The main problem I'm seeing is if I would want to scale up to hundreds of such posts. At some point original content becomes too expensive, however if spun is toxic these days there is no benefit.

I've had the mispleasure of buying into PBNs that used spun garbage and saw ZERO gains. So other than mild linkjuice and indexing there may be no point.

Myths. Misconceptions. Lies.

That's all you hear these days. People throw these around without practically testing something themself. And the sheep follow them like they should.

I spend 0 cents on content when I start a site and just put up spun content first. Once it is ranking anywhere near page 1 only then do I work on getting some unique and well written content.

Don't believe me? Maybe you will believe this

This site is ranking there only from spun content and I haven't put any unique/well written content yet.

I can show that site to a mod if someone thinks I'm "lying".

I know this still works but maybe i has something to do with the niche?

Yes, i have seen issues like this, where spun contents are ranking. One thing i know for sure, is that google preferred SPUN contents to copied contents.

Using spun contents for T2 is great, but for my original website?
It's a no no.

I think it quite works with any niche unless you compete with a 1,00,000 Exact KW, because I'm still ranking a site with pure Spun and Sape :)

so it's better to target keywords with 50k monthly searches or less than that with spun content?

I think it working and being a good idea are two very separate questions. It might "work" but what happens what your competition sees you're doing it and reports you to google and you get a manual review and kicked out of the serps

Another "misconception"

Let me tell you a story.

It's a story about a friend of mine that was a complete idiot. Why do I call him that? You'll find out soon enough.

The guy that I'm talking about, first did a half assed job on creating a PBN for his client, and while he did that, it may have been fine if he had hid the pbn from the competitors but he DIDN'T.

So you already know what happened.

A competitor found out about his client's PBN and they went on to create a video showing all the PBN links and uploaded it to youtube.

Then, they posted that video on the Google webmaster forum and also reported their site.

But...

Did Google take any action against his client's site?

No, they did not!

They might take action when they "feel like it" but not right away, as you have claimed in your post.

So, I say, fuck Google and fuck those competitors.

I've been asking myself this exact question. My client numbers have increased to the point where my work days are now largely spent content writing, which certainly isn't my definition of fun. So it's a choice of outsourcing or spinning. Call me paranoid but I dislike outsourcing any aspect of my business that has the potential to reveal my PBN sites, so I'm left with spinning.

How are you defining spinning is my first question? My course of action is to write 3, 600 word, high quality pieces of writing for each client site and manually sentence and synonym spin each piece, an upfront work investment that will hopefully allow me to coast the rest of the time. If your content is being spun in this way and manually checked prior to publishing, I don't see an issue but I'd like to get other peoples' take on this too.

Spun content and autogenerated content works and will work in the future. But you need to know how to make it convert.

Cheers

I think the real question you're asking is "Do I want to do things the easy way and see immediate but fleeting success? Or do I want to take my time, create something valuable, and wait to see hard-earned, long-lasting success?"

The choice is yours to make, and either answer is a simple yes or no.

This method is presently working, but it has death in next updates. I am not sure if this will die because social bookmarking sites where they get same content so they too have problems.
I suggest the OP go on as long as it works and never on these types.

Highly spun content = Unique content

Exactly, Google has no way to make an algorithm that will distinguish these two from each other. Or are they going to hire a few extra million co-workers to check each site manually??

To think that something is a fact because some people said it , yet not trying it yourself or only trying it half way.
BHW is turning more and more into Warrior forum...

I think you've hit the nail on the head, if articles are properly spun (manually), over 90% dissimilar and make perfect sense, as it stands I don't see there being a problem. Of course when AI comes along, maybe we'll need a rethink. If however we're talking about computer spun, nonsensical content then I think that's a risky approach and one I would not stake my livelihood on.

You've created a false dichotomy. This isn't a yes or no issue, suppose there was an effective way of spinning content (which I believe there is) it no longer becomes a case of spun content being short term and risky.
