It's not, tons of scientific packages are in Fortran and is wildly used in computational stuff. Fortran 5.2 was out in April this year, it is still developed.

It's used mostly by academia ecosystem. It has no practical usage these days? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't consider a language dead if it's used in science and not in scraping.

Recently started coding in Pascal, through XE7. One of the most powerful languages I've ever used. On XE7 I coded a program that works on all major operating systems, its crazy how such an old language can still be so awesome.

I don't think so
Many large corporations still have Fortran and Cobol in production today. The cost of changing an entire infrastructure to a new language is incredible for large companies.
