How has digital PR reshaped traditional link building strategies?

From your perspective, how has digital PR changed the way we think about acquiring links, and do you see it as a replacement or a complement to conventional link building tactics?

Digital PR is a necessary complement, not a replacement, for traditional link building, especially in notoriously difficult niches like casino and finance from my experience.

Instead of just asking for a link or dropping a guest post, you're creating compelling, data-driven stories, original research, or newsworthy content that journalists and editors genuinely want to feature. For a finance brand, this could be a study on market trends; for a casino, it might be an analysis of betting behavior.

This approach bypasses the old-school transactional feel of link building and instead focuses on what Google truly values: a brand that is a trustworthy and authoritative source in its field. The links you get from a well-executed Digital PR campaign are from top-tier news sites and industry journals, which carry immense weight and are far more impactful than a hundred links from a bunch of smaller blogs.

I’ve noticed higher domain authority gains from a few high-quality PR mentions than dozens of low-tier links

Digital pr made link building more about earning authority links through stories and newsworthy content. I wouldn’t say it fully replaces old methods, but it complements them. pr brings trust and exposure, while traditional tactics still help with scale and niche relevance.

I agree. Digital PR complements your link building and brings exposure to your brand. This is also the best way for new sites to get high authority links. Digital PR tactic works well with new and established sites.

Digital PR is a game-changer! It shifts focus from just link quantity to creating real brand value and trust. It doesn’t replace traditional tactics but definitely enhances them.

But is it easy to get free digital PR backlinks as good authority website will necessary charge for its good content and authority. This really contradicts "G's" paid link spam and algorithm boost. I think in the age of mentions, citations Digital PR can be a boon to gain Brand visibility in AI search.
