Hey

Should I in the description meta tag list the keywords related to the page or should I use a human readable description of the content on the page?

Meta tags should have keywords in them but not be keyword stuffed, also they don't have to be made for human readability per se...also google doesn't really give a crap about these anymore b/c marketers took advantage of them.

The description meta tag is what Google uses to display in its summary about your site on its organic listings so its like a small 2-3 line teaser about your sites content - make it attractive to surfers it will help draw traffic

Ah! haha sorry misread post. :o

What I meant earlier was that the keyword metatags shouldn't be stuffed and that goog isn't really paying attention to them anymore.

description metatags, drax2009 hit right on the head.

Write the description metatag to provide the best advertising you can. It's what most attracts people to the site after you show up on their google search page.

There's lots of other ways to promote SEO; there's only one blurb for your site that people will see.
