SEO is growing and is becoming more competitive. If you are doing SEO as a service, get repeat customers by delivering a good service. If you are using it for your business, learn the technicals of SEO. Google has a free course online for this and a lot of experts post free advice here and there.

SEO in 2026 is honestly the toughest it's ever been:

What's killing us:
  • AI Overviews taking zero-click searches to new highs
  • Reddit/Forums dominating SERPs
  • Google favoring big brands heavily
  • Helpful Content Updates destroying affiliate sites

What's working:
  • E-E-A-T signals (real expertise)
  • Video content (YouTube integration)
  • Brand building outside Google
  • Genuine user engagement metrics
  • Editorial coverage and press mentions

The game has shifted from "SEO tactics" to "build a real brand." Traditional link building is dying, but brand authority building through legitimate channels is more important than ever.

The current state of SEO is defined by a shift from keyword-centric tricks to a focus on holistic user experience and demonstrating topical expertise. Google's core updates and the integration of AI like Gemini directly into search results are prioritizing content that truly satisfies user intent. This means simply chasing backlinks or stuffing keywords is less effective than creating comprehensive, helpful content.

A major trend is the rise of E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) as a crucial framework. Google wants content created by people with first-hand experience, not just compiled research. This is especially true for YMYL (Your Money Your Life) niches. Technical SEO remains the essential foundation, but it's now about enabling a great page experience core web vitals, mobile usability, and secure connections.

SEO today is about quality and trust, not tricks

It’s slower, more competitive, and rewards consistency over shortcuts.

Focus on EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) and becoming the cited source for your niche. Google now heavily prioritizes content demonstrating first-hand experience and verifiable authority. Build topical authority through comprehensive content clusters and high-quality, editorial backlinks from relevant industry sites.

You have to focus on real backlinks that give visitors and trust. It's about quality rather than quantity.

According to my experience, SEO has. 3 main Pillars

1) Site structure
2) Quality Content ( E-E-A-T, infographics, answers to real queries )
3) Quality & Niche Relevant Backlinks

In today’s competitive SEO world, the main thing is to focus on real people, not just search engines. Try to create content that actually help users and answer what they are looking for

Your website should be fast, easy to use and work well on mobile. SEO takes time, so being consistent and adapting to changes really matters.
