The Content Authority?

Hi guys hope you all are having a great evening. I've looked this site up and down and even did a search on it, but I was wondering if any of you have personal experience working on The Content Authority?

I have a few questions.

How is the pay?
How exactly do you earn? Do you accept orders or just write what you want?
Do they pay on time?

I'm a very experienced writer and I need to know if this site is worth working on or if I should stick to the ones I'm with. I already write for BrightHub, Demand Studios, and Suite101. If you have any other suggestions for sites to work with that pay good please list them if you don't mind. Thanks!

I applied last week and got accepted, you need to write a sample, and will hear from them a few days later. I believe they pay weekly, I was going to try them out but I am getting much better pay somewhere else.

They start you at the first level and are evaluated after 5 articles (to be able to graduate to the next level).

I think the first level is .80 cents per 100 words and then the second level is 1.00 per 100. I couldn't be bothered with it because all of the article requests are for 300 words so basically you are getting $2.10 to write a 300 word article.

Apparently pay raises happen but the thing is even if you are making .03 per word there probably aren't many requests for an article of that quality, (that I could see), therefore you will be forced to write an article at the lower scale and get paid the lower scale for it.

If you are desperate and have nothing else lined up then you cannot lose but otherwise the pay is too low.

BrightHub pays $10 per article and 60% revshare.

Demand Studios pays anywhere from $3 to $80 (supposedly, but I've never seen an assignment for $80 on there) or you can just choose the revshare option.

Pay on Suite101 is around $1.50 per 1000 pageviews...I think.

Just writing for a client, because I have been writing for him for a while I can usually churn out some quick articles. With a site such as Content Authority you will need to do the research which for me takes time.

Have you tried Associate Content?

I'm pretty new at the whole writing thing. I tried writing for Associated Content and had really crappy results. On The Content Authority I can make $5-20 an hour depending on how the articles are going. You don't really need to do much research to write a majority of the articles, sometimes I hit up amazon or wikipedia then kind of BS my way from there. Since the average article is only 300 words it really only takes 2 or 3 facts and you're good.

I spend about 10 hours a week and I usually make around $50-100 a week (paid every monday, but articles have to be approved, which takes 3 days at most). Its good for me since I'm unemployed and have time but it kind of sucks. I spend more time waiting for articles that I can push out in 5 minutes, then actually writing.

I've been looking for something better, but honestly TCA is pretty great for me since its easy work, and I have made as much as $80 in a 6 hour period before. Of course those days are rare where I'm that motivated and I keep seeing work I can do.

I think you could make as much with Associated Content - Especially if the articles are long term earners

Yeah I've been writing for Associated Content since 2008 and make a few extra dollars from there with performance pay, but I couldn't depend on it as a main income source. As far as upfront payments, they don't pay crap on AC anymore like they used to.

I signed up for TCA 2 days ago and got approved so I'm gonna give it a go. Just wanted some basic info before I started putting lots of time into it.

How do people make good money on AC anyway? I've got 8 articles up since august and I've only made 30 cents. Am I just not picking good topics (likely) or is it really a type of situation where you have to put up a few hundred to see any sort of trickle in?

I think I'm gonna try the whole "Rewrite book guides" approach for a few days inbetween TCA writing sessions and see what happens.

If you WERE a "writer" as you claim, would you REALLY use such a simple, elementary school expression such as "... pay good..." in your post? I really don't think so.

Youz ain't no write-a tha' I'ze ever seenz. Good luck on that writing career though -- you're gonna need it.
