I have an Alexa question: How is it calculated for local ranking (By Country).

For example, I recently increased the Alexa rank of a website by around 300k globally, but the rank in Australia decreased by about 2k (Was already in top 10k in Aus sites).

The local ranking is calculated depending on the traffic of the geo location that you received. There is no formular for that, it is only about quantity. Try to find more Australia traffic and you will see that your Australia rank will increase a lot why global rank will not.

Well. that's the weird thing: Everything I did to game the Alexa rank was from Au IPs, the site receives 90% traffic from AU and is ranking quite well in AU for lot's of terms (some high volume, random ones due to PDFs ranking in the first page which unfortunately don't convert). So essentially, the website received more Australian traffic since I took over the SEO for it, but the Alexa rank decreased steadily in Australia whilst rising quite quickly globally. It's honestly quite weird and never experienced it before.

Traffic from different regions matters a lot, if you'll get traffic from AUS then your rank in AUS will increase more.
