The 'Blackhat seo for e-commerce' thread

TPG good post..Could you PM me what services you like best or even post them to this page so we know. I have tried a few things, really no difference so far.

I have a static site that I have all but abandoned, i was using a website tool that was a little cumbersome for what I have to offer, I wonder if one of the "seo experts" on this board is willing to do a case study to prove the benefit of the service?

Testimonials are ok but they are often hidden because people want to hide their site and niche. That would not be the case with me. I tried some gigs here and on fiverr so it already has a few hundred backlinks at is PR 1 in just 2months but not popping on ANY of the search terms that were targeted which confuses me.

With this site it can be used as an experiment for all to see, wonder if anyone of them is willing to put their $$ where there mouth is.

Like someone else put so correctly this is a BH forum and we are dealing with people willing to do shady things to rank, what makes us think they are not willing to do shady things to generate business from us trying simply to market our products?

I'd rather not post it here. The stuff that did not work for me may work for you. Similarly, the stuff that worked for me may not work for you. There are simply too many factors involved, as i'm sure you are aware as well. Also, no reason to affect the business of providers around here. We can PM on this issue but not at the expense of revealing too much personal info.

You do realise that I am expecting a fiverr for this...LOL.

What exactly do you want? I'm confused.

You want some guy to rank your site for you? For free, as an experiment? Get real!

Just an experiment. Everyone claims this that and a 3rd but with no proof other than you saying my service is great or me saying your service is great but we cannot see the site, the keyword nothing...All very black hat if you get my drift. This site is nothing and will remain nothing and I would happily post everything in public to be seen.

Think of this, if it can be verified, from start to finish how much REAL LEGIT business would this provider get? I would guess 90% of all viewing would use the servie. Would you? I sure would!

Hell I can take a weak keyword and rank with it with minimal work, I have already done it. The kicker is to do it with a money word or money site.

Again, why the cloak and dagger if I was that damn good at getting rankings I would prove it.

Look up the crashed challenge on this board. The OP has not finished, not sure what is going on but he ranks for "best football goals" with no real work backlinking etc.. More social like twitter, facebook etc.. I did the same thing for a hobby blog of mine that I do for fun and it ranks fro 2 long tail "how to" words on page 1 and another busier "how to" word on page 2.

For example rank 5th for "how to play tennis in college" rank #8 for "how to play tennis in high school" and rank 20 for "how to play tennis"..these are examples not my real search term but you get the idea.

I have no idea what you mean at all for the second half of your post. No need to explain it though.

For the first half, all i have to say is, Good Luck getting someone to bite on this! In an ideal world, what you say makes perfect sense. But why would any "SEO Guru" need to prove themselves to some dude on a forum? Even if you revealed everything, there will still be questions from tons of people with different situations, niches and keywords. It still will not answer all questions. The service could still very well fail for some, even if it worked for you. And the service could very well be devalued over time.

The worst part is, every newbie will be posting and asking for some free experiment to be done on their site. So what if they reveal everything? Its a small price to pay to get your site ranked and $$ rolling in. Heck, I would build a site right now and reveal every detail about it if someone would come rank it for me for free.

Each service has their own sales thread and its a free economy out there. You read what is being offered and decide. Sometimes, there are even review copies. You buy and they provide a service. If you like it, rate it. If you don't, give an honest opinion. If you want to do neither, then just live with it, which is what I usually do. I get my fair share of bad services but I chalk it up to experience and a bad judgement. No one forced themselves on me. I bought everything willingly. Like i said, its a free economy.

I wish that someone would take on your challenge, I really do! But chances are slim. Perhaps you can approach some providers and see if they are willing to do this.

You are absolutely correct but this industry is one of the few that rarely if ever can make any claim yet have no consequence for failing to meet that claim.
I am sure in your business if the product/service you provide does not meet the customers need you have to find some amicable way of fixing it. As do I in my business.

Also I am not asking them to reveal the method, just prove the method works. After all they rarely if ever state "this is not likely to work for most" in fact it is just the opposite. "Destroy google", "Beat the Panda", "Smash your competition" etc...

I would like to find one ethical, PROVEN provider anywhere that can help, the problem is finding someone that fits the ethical profile, let alone proven.

I understand that they have "nothing to prove" to me, but it is also quite convenient that they have nothing to prove at all really....

Here's the problem... they can't prove anything cause there are so many variables that go into rather or not a keyword can rank.

There is: Your site's age, it's on-site seo, the size of your site, the competition of your keywords, how many backlinks you already have, and many many many many more things that effect how much any given service will help you.

So for YOU it might be impossible, while for me it might make #1. If your site is brand new and has no links yet there are NO services that can do much because you're untrusted by Google and in the first 4 moth sandbox still.

Think about it this way. Dude A can rank #1 for "buy frozen elephant crap" - 99.676 exact searches a month. Why on earth would he go and sell this as a service to someone else, instead of getting a supply of the aforementioned product and sell it himself? Would YOU?

People here sell services, not results. Why? It 's easier, faster, cost effective to sell a service rather than results. Also, less risky for the seller.

Given that, there 's no one who will take your site and rank it to advertise his service. Testimonials are abundant, just take a look at the sales threads.

This is it. The risk is always on the buyer 's side on this game. Get used to it or learn more seo ;)

(Of course it is and then there is also no commitment to effectiveness either)

I think you are on to something.. LOL

You can be penalized for duplicate content on your website. Even if that duplicate content is located in a completely different area of your website. That is what Panda is about -- the more poor quality pages on your site overall, the worse your good pages will rank.

Additionally, when you're dealing with a store that has many thousands of products, some of the descriptions on those products are going to be horrible. All of this bad content is affecting whatever good content you have on your site.

With a blog, you are 100% in control of your content. You can make it all unique and top-notch, high quality. You won't get any penalties from poor content on other parts of your site then. I disassociate the blog from the store, Google doesn't even know I have a separate ecommerce store, they see the buy-now and more info buttons but they're all internal nofollow redirected through blocked by robots.txt.

And then I have more no-follow links. The whole top half of my page are all links to the various categories of my store ... but they are all nofollow and redirected through redirect.php (so Google drops them all from their link graph). Again, the goal is to get them off my blog and onto the store asap.

Then, the remaining internal links I have within the blog itself are all do follow. My categories are do follow, my YARPP links to other related pages are do follow.

In regards to SEO, my blog IS the money site. I'm not passing any PR or links to the duplicate content stores provided by the company I'm representing.

So its seems setting up a big network of satellite sites and driving your traffic from those blogs is the best way to go. Php, do you use autoblogs as well or do you have other buffer sites set up that you pass along PR to your e commerce site. Or do you not even care to rank any category, product pages on your e commerce site? It sounds like your strategy is to build links just to your satellite blogs sites and get those ranking. Also, do you use EMD for all your blogs??

good question, curious to hear.

Question about duplicate content, if I create a unique article then submit it to an article directory, is that helpful or hurtful?
What about a press release?

It seems more and more people are going to create 3 or 4 buffer blogs that link to the ecommerce sites and then create 3 or 4 more blogs that point to the buffer. I am assuming the dont create unique content for each of these 3rd level blogs so how does that help if the content is spun and not a new, fresh article?

No, you just use spun articles.

I wanted to make a thread for those of us who also wear out black hats for use on e-commerce websites as well

There is a lot of chatter on these boards for other schemes, but very little talk geared specifically for e-commerce seo. So I wanted to make a thread where we could trade ideas, strategies, and stories on this specific topic.

So I'll start the ball off: A couple things that are general thought on doing seo for e-commerce is that you want to be a bit more conservative than with most "money sites" you might have. Most people I've talked to are VERY careful about the quality of links that point directly to their page. I personally have had a lot of success with using a high degree of VARIETY in my links, but I've heard of people who only like to point web2.0's.

So lets start with this question... how do you handle the links directly aimed at your e-commerce page. Are you one of the cautious ++quality only types or do you use a more aggressive style? And have any of you ever had any negitive experiences with G sandboxes etc while doing e-commerce seo?

Share! :hot_dog:

I currently run the marketing/SEO programs for several e-commerce sites

great thread, subscribed and will share my knowledge tomorrow, going out now.
