The Big G - Messing With Our Minds?

Has anyone else noticed this:

When I am logged into any of my Google Accounts (Analytics, Voice, Webmasters) and I do a search to see where my money site is or any of the sites that I am tracking in Analytics or Webmasters I will find that it is rank pretty nice.

However, as soon as I log out and do the same check I am no where to be found. Now I might add that some of my sites are brand new but I am talking about a few of my sites that I have had for over 5 months and I can't find it for the keyword that I am targeting. One is a PR2 with many internal PR1 pages.

What's the story with this? How can I figure out what keyword my homepage for my money site is ranking for? How did I acquire this magical PR2 if I can't even find where I am located for the search term I am targeting?

It all just seems like the big G is messing with our minds.

Go to your analytics account and look where the traffic is comming from.
If you are getting any organic traffic you can see the search term they are using.

When you're logged in to a gmail account Google will show you what it thinks you want to see, this will include your history or plus+ stuff!

I figured as much. It is so frustrating to get a legitimate ranking analysis when they pull these games.

yeah, it's got to be based on history and behavior. If you notice, it will say underneath the listing, "you have visited this site X times". It doesn't always say that though.

I know if I do a search for our main keyphrase when I'm logged in to any of my google accounts we come up number one, but as soon as I log out we are number 7.

Well, the solution for your problem is very easy.

Or you can download Google Chrome and just use it for the "incognito" function.

This is not really the Big G messing up it actually keeps a record of how we like to see things and what our preferences are so that when we login to search for something, the sites that are high on our preferences will show up first. When we are not logged in things appear a little different.
