I lost 3 websites today. Manual actions.

One of them was the most successful, fully automated news website I've ever seen, with a peak of 200k/visitors per month. That was in 2022. It had over 100k articles published. Some were translations, others made with AI with neat automated scripts.
Another was my technical masterpiece, an English website translated into 24 other languages, the only multi-lingual WordPress website I've seen with a correct multilingual sitemap, and hreflang. It had 200k posts published and 400k posts to go (scheduled).
The other one was crappy, with 2,500 URLs, and never really made any real money.

The web is now a cleaner place.

Smaller websites, like mine, were buying services from here or other places. Bigger guys were buying services from the guys like me.

The ecosystem is likely to be obliterated in 2024.

Was expecting it.

The web is a corporation. Ran by a corporation, listing corporations. There will be no incentive to create. Like the commies did to society back in the day. No competition means no progress.

Not because mine were spammy but because maybe everyday Joe will not be allowed to grab a piece of the pie.

There's enough spam on mainstream news sites as well.

We just have to evolve as always.

Exactly same amount lost for me so far...... and its like day one.....


1.8 mil views a month totally deindexed.

Free lunch is over, but hopefully this isnt all a middle finger to the little players and actually opens space and pushes people doing things "good"

It is hard to see website get manual actions
One of my website hit by pure spamnand thin content like five years ago, I wasted six months to fix it but it never happened, better to start a new website.

This update seems to be popular with manual actions. I know it's disheartening but the things working like this these days

This will always be the biggest drawback of SEO. Years of hard work, wiped out in seconds.

Is it really impossible to take some action or write somewhere so that the manual actions are removed?

Lot of Smaller AI sites survived , I have dozens of smaller sites which has less than 100 high quality articles has no effect of this update, surprisingly some of them having spike in traffic.

This is just a hunch, but I think Google is only targeting "scaled operations" with manual actions for now. They're almost looking exclusively at web sites with a very large number of pages that appear to be automated content. They're not going to bother to take a manual action against a small, 100-page site. That they'll deal with algorithmically. But again, just a hunch.

I think G hired Ranjesh and his other billion cousins to manual check the WWW

That's not the case. One of my sites was quite small - a few hundred posts in 2 years or so. That's far from large.
We have more information about the current update; most SERPs are throttled AF.
Many legit, smaller sites with people's names in the domain name, like firstnamelastname.com, are going down. People's lives were affected, and people with genuine interests in some fields were not even monetizing. I've seen some relevant YouTube videos about that.

Each update erases legitimate businesses and fucks up people's lives.

That's why nobody knows the answers to simple SEO questions, and everything has to start with "It depends." Because NOTHING makes sense, except for the corporate web we now have. And Google's deals and money-making machine. Everything else gets obliterated, update after update.

What's to talk about here? Google just announced May 5 as the term for corporate mainstream sites to solve their parasite issue. They didn't penalize them because most of these corporate websites are under the same hedge funds' umbrellas. So, that would be against their investors' interest. On the other hand, non-corporate websites are taken down! How's that fair? Hypocrites!

I wouldn't go into further details. But chances are the global agenda fits precisely with what's going on. But that's a conversation I'd only have with my family and friends.
