Just try thing for yourself..Make some mistakes and some money..Thats the guide you need :)
 
There are tons of great guides out there. Google has their own section with training videos as well.
 
Use ONLY adwords learning center. Everything else are outdated... ie 4 weeks ago google disabled position preference and add scheduler! Why study about features that aren't available anymore?
 
I think the Andrew Goodman guide was a good one. It's a bit outdated now but the basic way he describes how to build ads and structure a campaign is solid.

I have found the google guide being a world of help especially when starting out. Also, talk to them on the phone now and they can help get things running for you.
