You will be lucky to find stories here. Understand these two particular products being talked about are meant for two different markets.
fanto is really geared towards commerical owners. Companies that need/want a cloaking solution for their promotion. The way it handles content is pretty advanced, and ensures there are no messups with copyright infringement. As you know, companies are sensative to that. They can easily to targeted for a lawsuit, esp when they have a lot of assets to potentially lose. They rely entirely on IP cloaking, and update their db regularly, which btw, you will pay for annually as well if you want those updates. Yes you are looking at $3k to start. For a company though, this is a perfectly reasonable licensing fee. Heck its cheap.
There is development of new advanced features currently, but they are not the types to release even month. It can be a year till that next release comes out. The current system is pretty stable. With that price you do get top notch support and they will setup everything for you.
SSES (simplified search engine suite) on the other hand, is geared towards the affiliate marketer. The way content is handled is less advanced, it's more of just straight scraping of pages with no conditions regards copyrights. It uses a combination of factors to cloak, but it depends on what exactly you use that will determine the extent of it's cloak capabilities. Generally, it users a bot list, and reverse dns to help detect bots and add them to the db as they are detected. Price is a monthly subscription model that makes it affordable for anybody to start, and I do mean anybody. So you get tinkerers who signup for a month or two then drop out. Depends what type of cloak system you want to use you will pay for. Options include the Classic SSEC, Cloak Site Builder, Blog Cloaker, and part of the suite is also their Link Exchange program. So you have a sort of a la cart of paying for what you want to use.
Many bug fixes will come out through the year. Occasionally there are releases with new features also. They are rather active in trying to incorporate new features. Support is weak in comparison. You are on your own for install and setup, and unless you are a seasoned server admin and familiar with this program, you are liking going to end up paying someone to get it setup for you. The makers support via a private community forum, but official support from the app makers can be slow at times. They are affiliate marketers themselves, so they got other things going on.

I don't know how many people who said fanto have ever actually used it. It is certainly the oldest one. I sometimes get the impression because of it's hefty price tag people assume its the best. As i have explained, it is just really marketed towards a different market. If you are in that market, then its a good fit.
