I couldn't find any thread similar to this, but I love reading good books, so it's an awesome opportunity to share several ones. You can post several, but choose one as THE BEST!

    My favorite is :

    Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri

    Other beloved ones :

    Goethe - Faust
    Jack London - Martin Eden
Stendhal - The red and the black
Mikhail Bulgakov - The Master and Margarita

    etc etc..........

P.S I always get surprised when people say "Twilight" as the best book or any other BS like that.

    Regards!

Anything by George Orwelll but particularly love, Down and out in Paris and London and Homage to Catalonia.

Ray Carver: What we talk about when we talk about love.

Charles Bukowski: Run with the Hunted or Post Office

Anything by Hunter S Thompson. Love his Political campaign trail books and fear and loathing is a classic but always had a soft spot for The rum diaries.

    Anything by W.Somerset Maugham

    Chuck Pahlaniuk: Rant

    Maus: Art Spiegelman

    Albert Camus: L'estranger

Louis ferdinand Celine: Journey to the end of the night.

    Cervantes: Don Quixote

Probably my favourite book for the sheer energy and way it made me feel at the time is On the road by Jack Kerouac.

Lets leave it at fiction or this could go on !

Lot of good books in this thread. Never read this one, although I know the story. Really enjoyed The Naked and the dead.

The moral of this thread is if you are into IM its very hard to read as many books as you used to. In fact I can only read non fiction lately.

Never would've expected an Orwell mention around these parts. Commendable.
As far as the "best" book goes, that's a question most avid readers would have difficulty with, so here's some of my favorite writers and literature.

David Hume, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Twain, Hemingway, S.T Joshi, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking, etc.
As far as Fiction goes, I read a lot of Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Clive Barker, Alernon Blackwood, Issac Asimov.

A classic from the Orient 1913

    The Art of War

The Art of War is an ancient Chinese military treatise attributed to Sun Tzu, a high-ranking military general, strategist and tactician

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting." ― Sun Tzu ...
Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak."
