The American Dream.

The recent thread about where Google will be in the next 5 year reminded me of this video. Great content, it really gives the average person an understanding of how our monetary system functions today. I thought this was a great watch, hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Yeah, its very hard to estimate. If we were in 2009 now, would you believe someone that says a site will come and beat google then be the most visited website?. Most probably not.

George Carlin was a great man, I've learned to question everything I am told along with many other things, he spoke the truth.

The video is complete bs, its making banks seem bad and greedy just because the majority of people abuse credit cards,house loans,and student loans. As well as not even do any basic personal finance which is available as a course in most High Schools and research which you learn in school.

There will always be an "elite class" and lower classes since there will always be a small amount of people that are smart and good with their personal finances and a bunch of people that aren't smart and horrible with their personal finances. Its not a conspiracy to keep people down.

The video doesn't mention that for single persons the first $250,000 of profit from selling a home is tax exempt and a married couple its $500,000. http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/avoid-capital-gains-tax-selling-home-29901.html So the taxable income would be $130,000 on the house if the person wasn't married at the time of the sale and if they were married it would be $0. Also if the guy was not married but earned no more than $36,250 in taxable income than he would pay $0 as well. But at the most he would only pay $19,500 in taxes to the IRS, which means $360,500 net gain, which accounted for inflation is a 232% profit.
