Your opinion is the problem. You are offering it as fact.

In the laws opinion, whatever rights I pay for I get for whatever time I paid for. "I changed my mind" doesn't enter into a contract over usage rights.

And I don't care if you have a million images on your website, creating multiple liabilities on purpose that give someone else the means of depriving you of all the profit from your website (as well as all your other hard earned income) because you stole an image from them is stupid.

And on the part of the owner of the picture, letting someone use your picture to make money with and not asking for a share is even stupider. Its free money that all you have to do is ask for. Getty images has built an empire on this.

And lastly, if you have a food blog, why not cook the damn recipe, and take your own pictures?
Apparently suing people who steal them has a good ROI.

Interesting post but I think this is a little over the top unless a site is habitually stealing images and copying word for word recipe content from other sites.


Ask permission to use the info and offer to provide a back link is the best policy.

METHINKS tis post is a waste of time reading. Have a cell phone, take a freeking picture of a liverwurst sandwich or something and post the dang picture on Pinterest. Geesh !! I thought you were going to say something like "create a bunch of photes, then put some pixel on them and when someone downloads it - bust them and make big money --

So if, let's say, we take 'amazing' food photography images ourselves and go through the process of copyrighting each individual image, lets say, 1000 files in total and seed them all around the internet, then wait for a couple months for pinterest, food bloggers and others to 'blindly' use them in their own uses, then use tineye to find out where all images are and send out invoices for a substantial amount of 'money owed for copyright use' and if individual/site does not pay nor takes down image, sue for copyright claims?
