In life there are many things beyond the scope of our influence, and learning to accept this fact is the foundation of maturity. Procrastination is so destructive because it squanders our most valuable (and irreplaceable) resource and the one most under our own control- TIME. Before you delay another decision, consider just some of the costs of inaction and how it can put you behind the proverbial eight-ball.

MONEY
During the real estate boom, many property owners adopted the "buy and hold" strategy of investment. Despite evidence toward over-inflated market valuations, idling and hubris led large numbers of investors to forego profit-taking in hopes of even higher future values. The inevitable bubble and crash forced many out of retirement and brought about delayed retirement for millions more.

Lesson: Pull the trigger on profits- "a bird in hand is worth two in the bush"

OPPORTUNITY
"Time is of the essence" is a legal term used to describe the intrinsic link between opportunity and value. In 1985 Coca Cola Co. introduced NEW Coke, the first variation of the classic formula in a century. Pepsi capitalized on Coke's hesitation to consumer backlash and reluctance to return to the old formula by making the largest headway in market share in the company's history.

Lesson: Procrastination favors the competition; "Carpe diem", seize the day!

MORALE
In baseball, striking out without taking a swing is a hitter's worst nightmare. Combat veterans often express that the uncertainty and waiting leading up to a fight is the most difficult to manage. Achieve a position of dominance, be proactive, and create a positive mental outlook for yourself and your team, rather than letting circumstance dictate a quagmire scenario.

Lesson: Bad decision is easier explained than indecision

In life, timing is everything and while no one can perfectly predict the future, everyone can read the writing on the wall in the present. Understand that to be dutiful is to be obedient, and delayed obedience is disobedience. Ultimately, its better to regret something you did, than something you didn't do.

this is pretty good stuff.. alot of people suffer with procrastination. Now tell us how to get over it instead of an already known problem give us medicine dont rediscover it lol

Procrastination is my number one weakness

Procrastination has honestly killed easily over $100,000 for me. Without fail.

I'm going to get a good book on procrastination actually. I best do it now, before I leave it to another day.

I think we are all guilty of it in some form.

if not for procrastination i would have been a millionaire many times over by now.
