thats right! another vagex vps question! :D

I know this topic has been covered several times but still couldn't find ALL the answers to my questions I had about this for my particular situation and set of questions. so here goes.

1 what kind of vps is needed (cheapest yet able to run it without a problem) all day and all month long
2 I don't exactly know how a vps works but I do know its something like a computer located somewhere else that you can run all the programs on (in theory I guess). how many instaces of vagex can you run on a single vps? I would like to know this because I want to run the max I can to earn the most credits. IF I have to buy multiple vps its no problem as long as its not too much money or worth the return.
3 for users that run vagex on a vps, how many credits average (realistically) can you expect in a day per instance of it running. 1k, 2k, 5k, etc

I am wanting to know all of this because I find I spend a good amount on credits every 3 or so days. switching between guru and expert that adds up really fast. I spend a bunch of credits daily and wondering if with about 20k credits on 5 instances of vagex is possible (a day) or at least close too it. Just doing a simple guess here, didn't totally do the math yet, if I buy 300k vagex credits switching from guru to expert then guru and so forth, and I can get say 5 vps running vagex all month for about 100 dollars total a month. owning these servers and would be worth it to me if I can earn more then 300k a month. burst.net provides you with 2 IPs so you can get 2 instances of vagex viewer / firevag on there (you might have to think outside the box on this one) , it's not what i do personally but i'm aware of people that do. i used to run 1xvagex viewer and 2xfirefox on the burst.net win vpses , and that got me ~4k/day


it should have been getting more than that but the VPS speed (both disk and processor) caused lag and stuff

you'll also want to ensure you implement a bandwidth limiter otherwise your 1000gb will disappear with the quickness.. and you'll be left with an unsable vps (their bandwidth overage prices are through the roof)

last but not least i pmd you about a service which would save you from having to do any of this im guessing a few weeks of vps troubles will pique your interest, haha

Burst.net are possibly the most shitty VPS/Dedicated provider know to mankind.

If you bothered to click on my link you can find VPS's with similar specs for as much as $2. Go figure

You wont get a windows vps for that price however.
I offer a service where if you buy your burst.net vps through my referral link I will set it up so it will run vagex on autopilot 24/7 setup scripts to auto-restart the program after 2 hours as well as auto-login if burst reboot your vps.(which they do often)

Yes they are not a great provider but there is no cheaper windows vps out there and I have no problems with my setup.
Have not even checked in on the vps in over 2 weeks and it's earning the same daily credits as always.

I have been running vps for users here for several months now, It is a job as they do require checking in to make sure vagex or firefox has not crashed, also like any other pc they do require a reboot from time to time not to mention the fact that the vps provider can reboot your machine from time to time as well leaving you earning nothing.

using 7.95 per month at Burst with a windows 2003, its working like a charm

Anyone has an estimate of how much bandwidth having Vagex Firefox viewer on takes?

Most low-end VPS have few hundreds GBytes bandwidth.
My feeling is that 650-700MB will run out before the end of the month if the viewer is kept on 24/7.
