You're performing link building on a domain and one day it drops slightly, then the next day / two your rankings goes up higher than before.

Pretty much rinse and repeat until you get into the top 5.

Anyone else noticed this pattern, I definitely see it on my websites.

Same here, but usually I don't stop link building until I reach a decent number of BLs. So my google dance is taking weeks.

Got the same problem! Adding steady links, updating and adding new content, makes it very difficult to see an actual realistic ranking position... once the dust settles.

That's interesting, I'm getting similar results with a domain I'm pumping GSA into daily (Tier 3 Spam)

I guess after working in a niche for ages you get a feel for how much linking is enough and let the dust settle when you get there...

Seeing the rankings dance everyday just pisses me off so I don't monitor rankings daily anymore. I am focusing only on building links

Fluctuations like this are normal when working on SEO, rank increase is almost never linear. It seems you are on the right track!
