Alright guys, to give you a little background, I've been interested in IM sense I was in Middle School, and am now 20 years old. Up until now, I haven't had much success. I've had some community management gigs, and content creation gigs.Now...I'm going to be planning and setting up my first serious website. The Website

I am setting up a website in the IM/Marketing/Entrepreneurship/etc niche. I don't have THAT much experience in IM yet, but my family does own a very successful small business so I know quite a bit about offline marketing/entrepreneurship. I was thinking about how I was going to make this community stand out from other ones like it. Then it hit me! I'm not the only young person who is interested in its field, and there isn't a big community (to my knowledge) that is more so focused on their group. So, that's what I want to do. I, and a few of my buddies who all have different levels of experience in all business areas, will be setting out to create this great community.

We will be using XenoForo. We will have a blog, a forum, and a marketplace for use and other users. Once really cool thing we want to add is a special category for "Veterans" of business. There, they'll be able to post tips, success stories, bad ideas, and they'll even be able to offer their services as a mentor to somebody that needs one.

The Plans

Right now, I am saving up the money needed prelaunch. The way things are going, I'll be able to launch half way through May. As things get closer, and closer, I am writing down everything on paper, including a business plan.

Goals
I don't have anything too specific yet. Through all of summer, my main goal is to just gain a large amount of traffic, and to start bringing in a couple hundred bucks

.So yeah guys, I'll keep you updated as time goes on. Wish me luck!

Go on you can do it as long as you are motivated :)
That's exactly how I feel.

A lot of people say they don't have the money to invest. I have a good job at a pub where I make 8 bucks an hour cash, and I don't really have many bills to pay. With this job I bring in over 200 a week, so ya, money isn't really a problem for me.

Good Good!
Keep it up :)
* i make 2.5$ a hour *

Ah, well I do believe I saw you saying you live in a different country. Things are different in every country. I myself reside in the US

Goals I don't have anything too specific yet.

You should really get on that first.

Will you be sharing your website with us later on? I would love to visit it :)
Good luck with everything!

Good luck with your project. I think big authority website is the best way to earn money online. I myself plan to build one in the future but I am still reading and saving money for that. You say you work a normal job, are you going to outsource everything? Outsourcing is good but may be it is better to work on your own in the beginning to get the hang of it.

Enjoy the journey! Ends up only with success, until then work hard! I wish, to get succeed..

I mean, I have goals, just nothing too specific yet. I'll have them set up as I continue the business plan.

And yeah, I'll be sharing it of course! :)

I have my own job but I also stay up pretty late, so I mean, I still have a lot of time to work on the website myself. I have a couple personal friends helping me out too.

Havent been able to do much lately. I have the whole community mapped out though, and should have the money I need a a few weeks.

You really need some goals - you need a plan of action, some targets, ideas to make money and a vision. They are vital- otherwise in a months time if you haven't got the thousands of visitors like you want, you'll have nothing left and you'll lose motivation - better to plan some real goals and then chase after them.

How are you going to attract members?

what is the business objective? Set goals from this.

how exactly is it different from others? You dont actually say, you just say 'then it hit me...'

I want it to be a website that attracts the younger generation of business owners/marketers/etc....I did say that in the OP by the way lol.

hmm, its not that clear but maybe because English isn't your first language.

But younger generation might have potential as they are more engaged in the web

Uh, I'd say the way I wrote it, it's pretty clear. I'm native born to the US by the way...lol

Well guys, I'm going to give this a short update. I've sort of changed plans a little. I did get a website up, but it's different than what I planned before.

Right now it's just a forum, but I'm going to be working on setting up a homepage. The idea of the forum is that, people interested in film, music, art, and more, can come and meet other people interested in the same thing as them. From there they can share their stuff and even find people to work together with. There are websites all over like this, but they all hit one specific thing. This website hits more than just film, or more than just IM. I really think I have something here. I haven't made much off the website yet, but I just launched it last week.
