Yeah, for me is an unlimited source of knowledge in many different areas.
if I compare this to my native language resources of information, it is like comparing day and night.

Actually, what he said does make sense. He is comparing two extremes. Also, it's a very common phrase in the USA/English.

Day = lots of light
Night = almost no light
