Someone disputed $400 worth of work done in June. I provided all of the emails and even proof of all of the work being delivered. It was two payments of $200 and they put in their dispute notes "commissioned piece not received" which I thought would look suspicious to PayPal.

A mere few hours later, I got two emails saying the cases were closed in the buyer's favor and the money has been refunded. I can't even process this right now. There's no way they looked into either of these cases or even read the evidence uploaded. There has to be a way to fight this. I am not letting this person get away with fraud for $400.

Before anyone asks, it's not a BHW member nor was it a deal made on here. I'm just trying to gather some opinions on how to fight PayPal's decisions regarding cases. Every attempt to contact customer service, I get someone I can't understand that's clearly reading generic answers off of a script. How do I get a hold of executives or people in a higher position of power?

You can call them up and go through to their 'Resolutions' team or whatever they're called.

Good luck though, I'm always moaning about Paypal - they have little logic when it comes to these sorts of things.

I assume a lot of the people who work there are poorly paid and just read off of scripts without actually looking into issues. It's just insane to me that people can do this. This is the first dispute I've had since 2014 with hundreds of transactions from dozens of clients. I've emailed their executive email, I tried contacting them on Twitter but they're always insanely slow to reply on that but thanks to the person below who posted other Twitters. I'll try those too.

Hell or high water, I despise scammers with a passion and I will not let this person get away with $400 of disputes. I wouldn't let someone get away with $20 of scammed goods.

I'll report back the results but I have a general feeling of how this will go.

I always hate support of PayPal, get yours, man! 400 dollars... But the mot important is not money, but the fact... Even 1 cent and it even...

What was the work for. If it was for a website I know exactly what I'd do. But we can't discuss those things here.

It was for a website actually. I provided proof of the work being delivered, I provided screenshots of her thanking me for the work and saying she'd hire me again in the future, I even offered to send the source files to PayPal. It doesn't matter. I doubt they even read it. I've contacted every Twitter outlet they have and their executive email. I'm Googling the number of every high-ranking executive in PayPal and will be trying to contact them. Contacting the general support channel is utterly useless. I even showed them a text where she said and I quote "I have to do this, I need the money to pay off credit card bills." This is why I doubt whoever looked at these cases even read through the evidence.

I feel sorry for you. But the truth is once the PayPal team has reviewed your case and come to the decision then it's not possible to reopen the case and get your $400 back.

Not if you go through their useless support channels. Maybe all of my efforts will be in vain but it's not going to stop me from contacting every single executive I can find that works with PayPal.

Concept of chargeback itself is a real stupid thing in (US law?). Payment means payment, money means money and account balance means account balance. As long as chargeback is possible , what is the point of a transaction. If people cant take care of their money nobody can save them.

You can't not have disputes and chargebacks. PayPal would be a seller's scammer's paradise then, which it kind of used to be. Back before they started covering non-tangible items, you could literally call them up, say it was a non-tangible item and they would close a dispute in the seller's favor with no questions asked.

Now though, they've swung the pendulum in the wrong direction and believe anything that a buyer says without actually looking into a case.

I suggest to accept payments through family and friends only.
In this way the customer is not able to refund anymore.

I think in the long run you would lose out far more. I would never pay for a service through family and friends. So I'm guessing you would lose plenty of orders that could have been. Which is guess the odd dirty scammer would not mount up to a greater value.

Yeah you can do that twice.. after that PP will ban your account for missing their precious fees

True, I would never use F&F for payment of a service and if I was asked to that would immediately put me off going ahead with any purchase.

If they already refunded the money back than i don't think you will be getting it anyways.
