Nowadays it seems like ppl are using Thanks button like Like button..
The thank button will lost its meaning :(

I don't know about everybody else, but I usually use the thanks button if somebody has contributed something useful to the forum. If it's useful, I like it.

Well if you want to change that then BHW should buy "VBSEO", most of you know what that is, but it comes with a handy like button, just like facebook, I've used it on a few forums before. is that a good idea ?

If someone help not only my like help other people or sharing good news, methods when i click help because she/he help.

Yeah I know.. I use that thanks button with the whole meaning, but i saw some funny posts and many ppl are thanking it.. It's just about it.

People are giving thanks to literally everything now. The more valuable thing you can give is reputation points, they are more to determine how contributive a member is and how credible and reputable he is.

For me:

Thanks = Liked your post, thanks for sharing or leaving good information, you were helpful to me, or helped the thread. Rep = You deserved recognition for an excellent post, great information, did something great. The real factor is rep.. Thanks is just a friendly thank you, rep is more of a personal I can't thank you enough. In the end that's like comparing post counts, shouldn't really matter..

Saying thanks is a good thing regardless of whether it's because someone liked something or because they're thanking them for the post/thread. Lately a lot of you new members are overusing/over analyzing the thanks/reputation concept here at BHW. That's not the focus. The focus is to make money here and then come back share your experiences with the community and then even spread some of the love back around by donating to JR ViP or giving away something for free. That's it.

In that case... you should avoid visiting this thread: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/blackhat-lounge/451041-worlds-2nd-biggest-thank-you-thread.html.

Or you'll get some serious spasm attacks and you will be unable to ever mention that "Thanks" button ever again... lol

I don't think it's overused. Most members here are mature even being young and use it only when they see a useful contribution.

thanks for sharing a method, thanks for helping someone out, thanks for giving me an idea, thanks for putting someone in their place, thanks for making me laugh, thanks for being diplomatic - all valid reasons for me to hit thanks

We are all doomed!
