Textbroker Alternative?

I consider myself to be a decent writer with a good command of the English language. These days I have a lot of time thus I am looking forward to monetizing my time.
Unfortunately, I am not from the US, UK, Canada or Australia. Most of the sites I have come across so far demand their writer to hail from these regions.
Many people have suggested Fiverr, however, I see it's extremely competitive. In fact, the competition grows over time. I might have to buy several fake reviews to even stand a chance there. It might have been a good alternative a few years back. On the other hand, the BHW marketplace seems to be dominated by the first few listings.

I would appreciate a suggestion. Thank You!

Textbroker is exploitative af, and not really worth it. I would build up a decent portfolio and then hit upwork. Try to find good paying jobs on there. Whenever i hired writers on there, the amount of shitty applications i got was astounding. So if you are good at giving clients what they want to hear, i have no doubt you will be able to gain a few. Also, direct contact with prospects is key. I know someone who has built up his career with a more hands on approach to client aquisition.

You can sell articles on Constant-Content. They accept writers from pretty much any country but they have much higher standards than Textbroker.

Another alternative, that is harder, is to not write for article mill sites, but go for the gold and directly apply with individual prestige sites that pay $50-100 dolars per article. Search for lists of "sites that pay you to write" and you'll find a few dozen possible candidates.

Why don´t you start your own website and leverage social media for traffic? Or you just want to do this as a summer gig or something?

Website will take time and money to see some results. Thats a variable I cant afford at this point.
I would rather write some articles and make some certain money off it.

That is time-consuming and a gamble with time. I have often wondered the same question. If content is king, why is so much of it sh!t. And why are the writers paid in nuts?

"Gamble With Time" Well Said!
I believe among all the other jobs on the internet, Content Writers still have a decent pay. I mean look at other stuffs like - taking surveys, transcription, testing, etc. Man! Those are horrible!

The idea would then be not to rank that site to aquire customers, but to stand out among the crowd, as a professional you can trust.
This is one of the biggest problems content writers face - hordes of nameless competition. Offers up an opportunity too though..

So it's about building a portfolio. Then what do you suggest? Going for fiverr?

I'd try to go for high value clients if you want to make this worth your time. There are enough people writing for pennies. You get these clients by building a portfolio. If you manage to write for one major website, that might be enough to get things rolling. If you can, try to contactpotential clients directly by phone. Another tactic is to look for local businesses and establish a real, human relationship with them. Then, pitch these companies on your writing services.

However, the problem for me is "How to find clients?". Local SEO business pay very thrifty as I live in a third world country. So, thats not an option for me. So, I could google my niche and I can contact website owners through email or phone? Pitch them with my portfolio. Would it be an effective strategy?
Can you think of other way to find individual clients and build relations with them personally?

I am yet to try out Upwork. I have been avoiding it till date assuming it's highly competitive like Fiverr.
I am good at researching and I can write on most major catagories. I love writing about Health & Medicine, Science and Tech.

It is, but when i used to hire on there, i found that most applications were complete crap. This is one way to stand out.

If you have 8 very well written articles left, and you chose assignments that already coincide with other sites or communities you are working on, they can be published there instead. The point is to get published where the pay and the credentials you acquire matches the effort you put in, instead of being stuck in hack article mill land forever. You will have more clout as a writer if you are published at X prestige site, thus can justify a higher rate as a freelancer.
