It depends on the niche. Text posts work great in some niches like tech while image or video posts work great for movies and entertainment.

The detailed and properly explained posts works best and if it has some image to support the text you have written then it is even better

I have noticed that text post still perform better in my reddit communities,especially in discussion focused subs. People usually go to reddit for opinions,experiences and conversation,so detailed text posts often get more engagements and comments .

It actaully depends on retentaion and real user activity. And all is filtered by ai to really determine those actual stats.
Media far outperforms text for me.
Most important is "DO YOU KNOW YOUR NICHE"
You need to be able to know how to trigger user activity.

Depends heavily on the subreddit honestly, discussion focused subs still seem to reward text posts way more than media
