I wanted to test out the effectiveness of linkbuilding with only SEnuke after the Penguin 2.0 update and analyze the results after the latest Penguin 2.1 update in October. Since SEnuke is one of the most expensive linkbuilding software out there at $149 per month it should be able to rank a website.

I spent hours in the past learning how to scrape websites and add them to SEnuke, properly set up a campaign and used Word AI Turing spinner for creating spyntax on original content. The anchor text was natural urls, generic words and 9 targeted keywords that had high competition, a relatively low search volume but a High suggested CPC of $40-60. I wanted to note that with only 10 clicks I could pay for a month of SEnuke!

What I found is that using SEnuke as the only linkbuilding method provided mediocre results for the first campaign dripped over a 14 day period (ranking on pages 6-7, with 1 keyword up to page 4). Then in October when my second campaign of also 14 days finished the rankings tanked. The website and rankings are currently not showing up for anything, not even the domain name.

Here is a screen shot of the rankings over a 6 month period.

The first linkbuilding campaign started on Sept 5th and the second started on Sept 28th.

My thoughts on this experiment is that SEnuke shouldn't be used directly to your main site unless you are willing to do massive linking campaigns and have your money site a churn and burn. SEnuke could definitely create some high quality Tier 2 and 3 links but at the expensive price tag of $149 per month I would rather use GSA.

Also keep in mind that this was just one website and not conclusive by any means. Just an example

What? I'm by no means a supporter of senuke but are you really suggesting that an SEO tool does not work after using it for two campaigns? Oh dear.

This is just one example, it could be a numerous amount of reasons but I had similar sites setup with different methods and those kept their rankings and reached page 2.

This website however, only got to page 6 and then lost rankings.

Interesting findings OP. SENUKE and GSA, from what I understand from the start should not be used directly to your money site.

But I have read lots about how sites with little links are ranking good as long as they have fresh content regularly etc.

    Thanks JD,

If you want to be much less risky I agree with your statement. In my other tests I have found that getting about 20-30 links from real websites related to your niche does improve rankings.

Senuke basically builds PR0/Na links, to rank high these days, you need high PR links.

Yea, even if you scrape your own site list the new articles/links it creates are NA a majority of the time.

SEnuke is just bloated software that was never really very good. Now there are quite a few options for better link building software I would stay well away from it. Build some nice hand built properties, then use software like GSA, xrumer, or scrapebox to build links to your hand built tier 1 properties. This is a proven method that has been around a long time, and still works VERY well!

Jerome, I agree with what you said about manually creating properties/sites then using GSA etc. to create Tier 2 links!

This is currently one of my most effective strategies

Could you be more specific when you're using GSA on tier 2 ? Guestbooks ? article directories ?? .....
I read you're blog and didn't find any mention of this strategy

    Ficfroc,

I vary what I use on GSA for Tier 2's but mainly it is Web 2.0s, Social Bookmarks, Doc sharing (pdf), Blog Comments and Wiki's.

I also have GSA set to only post on sites with a PR of 1 or above with Outbound Links of Less than 50. This takes much longer to get links but they are on higher quality sites for Tier 2
