Testing interest-based keywords for ads

While checking interests/keywords is still advisable, it only helps with targeting and risk assessment; the primary focus now remains on content and advertising.

You should use short video clips or ads with good content. Everything is much more stable if it's engaging and will be more positive than your current approach.
After completing all the initial ad settings, I used to set relevant interest keywords to further target the audience. However, I've noticed that this doesn't seem to be working very well lately.

It is absolutely necessary to test interest-based targeting, as your creative and copy can be perfect but still fail if shown to the wrong audience; interests define who sees your ad and are a primary variable for cost and performance.
I've found that setting interest-based keywords from the start significantly limits the reach of the advertisements.

You need to know that the more detailed your targeting, the higher the percentage of customers who reach and interact with your ads, and the more accurate and high-quality the results will be.
My current strategy is to start without setting any interest keywords, and let Facebook's automatic optimization help me find the right audience. If it proves effective, I will further refine the targeting.

Yes, testing interest-based targeting can still uncover untapped audiences.
Even if your creatives are strong, the right audience can make or break ad performance.

For Sure it’s still important to test interest-based keywords.
Good ad copy won’t perform well if it’s shown to the wrong audience.
Testing both interests and creatives helps you find what really converts so its important
That's true, but I think we should try Facebook's automatic optimization, letting it automatically find customers based on performance.

Interest testing isn't as crucial as it once was, but it still holds value in certain areas. Broad targeting combined with strong, creative content often yields better results now, while interests can help guide algorithms in the early stages.
Your idea is the same as mine; I also think it's not as indispensable as it used to be. We can optimize the algorithm in the early stages, and then I'll choose Facebook's catalog automation ads, which will improve on their own.

That's absolutely true; content and materials still play the dominant role. It merely serves a positioning function. However, the content needs to be constantly updated to keep up.

While keyword testing based on interests is still necessary, you should focus on content, images, and short videos.

Testing interest-based keywords is still very necessary. Although Facebook has automated the process of finding customers, it's prone to errors, and if errors occur, your advertising budget will be wasted.

Is it still necessary to test interest-based keywords for ads? I usually only test ad copy and creative assets!
Yes, testing interests can still uncover hidden audiences. Ad copy and creatives matter but the right interest targeting can make a big difference in performance.

Sometimes mixing broad targeting with lookalike audiences gives better insights than just focusing on interests alone.

It's still advisable to experiment to a certain extent with interests or target audiences, but the focus has shifted to: content, messaging, visuals, offers, landing pages, and funnels.

Keyword testing remains essential as it allows for deeper optimization for the best results, ensuring the right audience receives the right engaging content, avoiding wasted budget, and increasing conversion rates.

I think we should adapt to Facebook's newly launched fully automated optimization advertising model. Although initial spending is necessary, I feel it will become more accurate over time. I'm currently conducting tests on this.

I've found that setting interest-based keywords from the start significantly limits the reach of the advertisements.
You're right, but that's the point - initial narrow interests find your cheapest, most responsive audience; start with 5-10 detailed interests to control cost, then gradually expand to lookalikes and broad targeting only after you have profitable conversion data.

For me, it's not necessary if you don't need high-value conversion leads
However, if you do need leads, you should set some keywords. Meta AI is still quite intelligent and can filter them well for you

I completely agree with your opinion. I'm currently testing MATE AI, and I think it will be the next trend. Traditional testing methods are gradually becoming obsolete. I've conducted two comparative tests, but the results aren't available yet. I'm looking forward to the results.

I stopped A/B for too long, haha. I couldn't understand why Meta and the users chose that option, so I just let all the creatives flow with each ad set
