testing email submits

is it a good rule of thumb to test a first page email submit with your own ip/proxy one time to see if it actually converts before you "waste time" throwing traffic at what could be a bad offer, or is that frowned upon/not even a good test in the 1st place?

Make some efforts and don't try it on your self ..

I sometimes do that, test on myself first to see if offer actually works.
