I've had a hard-on for robocalling for a while now. I stopped hanging up on robocalls to my office a long time ago because I like to analyze the messages for sales effectiveness -->nerd<--

I am working to bring on more resellers for the SEO service in which I am a partner. I figured Web designers were good prospects for reselling SEO.

So this is was my test:

I robo-called every Website Design company in Texas. I figure that some web design companies already sell SEO, thus they are competitors. But my service is better than theirs and they should sell my service instead. So I cound them all as good prospects. I recorded an upbeat, entertaining, aggressive sales message explaining who my company is and why they should partner with us. Instead of directing them to my website, I told them to check out our youtube channel.

I next want to split-test that and see which method gets more traffic (website or youtube channel). My thought process was that web-design people are more likely to look at a youtube channel than some weird domain.

Keep in mind.. it was a very small test. But highly targeted.

I called 1193 companies. 1039 answered the call. (some of those were voicemail).

    I got 6 calls back.
3 of them said "please take me off your list" very politely.
1 of them said "take me off your list NOW. I am reporting you for your blackhat tactics." Hahahah
1 of them said "how dare you not check your list. You are calling your competitors. So Rude!!" haha woops
1 of them was a very nice voicemail saying that he heard my call and would like more info about our service. We have played phone tag so far, but I am confident that the lead is solid.

So that is it ... 1 lead out of 1000 calls.

I'm going to try it with a much bigger pool of numbers next time and a more generic product, like SEO or service companies hitting a list of 25K+.

Maybe I called any of you guys !?!? LOL.

Every company is yelling. You need to yell louder to survive.

I love case studies like this.

So what time frame since robocall to call backs? Are you getting any more callbacks?

You should do a second round to the same list, maybe with an offer to incentive a callback.

Let us know how the split testing goes.

1 lead out of 1000 robocalls. Not bad considering the robocalling thing.

    Hey good question.

Got about 10 new views on the youtube video. The video was a basic introduction to the reseller service, with a call to action to visit our website and submit a contact form to sign up (or call our 800 number).

For the robocalling, I used a company called ytel. They have a really easy setup. $100 minimum to try it out. It is about a penny per call.

Interesting concept. I wonder how many more people you pissed off but just didn't take the time to let you know it. ;)

I just turned on my phone and I got a voice mail similar to what you just talked about, I've never got one of those before, I will pm you the site name in the voicemail if you want. Might be a big coincidence though lol
