TEST! Document sharing method effectiveness - do follow, index rate, multiple links, dup conten

Hi Everyone


I am doing a test on the effectiveness of document sharing sites for SEO ..I suspect many of of you will think this a bit pointless as document sharing is such old hat but I am going to do it anyway.


To make it especially HARD I am going to use multiple links per document, part duplicated content and minimal indexation help.


Here is the test (no laughing please)


1. I post a different document to the 10 top ranked document sharing sites over 48 hours


2. Each document is part duplicated content by which I mean it is an existing content taken from the web topped and tailed with customisations every half page or so ..eg "Top ten SEO forums and tips on how to get the most out of them UPDATED 2020" That will then be human re edited into something like “Must have SEO forums for every SEO Pro” etc Will probably do 3 or 4 re edits before picking a new bit of content


3. Each document will have 4 x 6 links inserted which is a lot!


4. Links are RAW and to 4 new sites and their social media profiles ..Youtube, Pinterest, Facebook etc PLUS one anchor text link


5. Each profile and document link will get some minimal indexing help.


Each week I will report how many links indexed , do follow or no follow etc with proof plus any traffic but not expecting much of that


I know its a strange test but I can think of a few uses for this document sharing test PARTICULARLY if it locates some PDF sites with excellent indexing rates as that’s a bit of an issue these days


Starting literally right now …will keep track of hours as well as that’s important. I will have finished the test launch in 24 hours …..and will update in 7 days time possibly sooner as links show up



PS I am also including edocr in this test even though its not ranked in the top 10 PR wise because it works really well re indexation although it took a few weeks to get all the links from the PDFs submitted indexed


PPS I am excluding Google Drive because will be doing a related test on that site and paid for document sharing sites


PPPS if anyone has any thoughts on any other metrics which might be useful let me know

Ok, this is great apart from the fact that you are still using PR as a metric, lmao. Jokes aside, i think you could elaborate a little more on the sites that you are targeting in the experiment.

For example, what kind of sites are getting links from these documents? What kind of content they already have? How are you going to measure if the links are working or not? What are you trying to accomplish?

I had a look using 1. ahrefs, 2. Moz link explorer and 3. googling www.mywebsite.com"

So far only indexed links shown are Issu and Calameo and one other site I used called poptype which always does well. With Issuu shows as a video document but the links are clickable.

Its been 2 and a half weeks without any real indexing help so still plenty of time. Only indexing help was sharing on Facebook and Twitter both also new accounts. Also remember I made it as hard as possible with multiple links and top and tailed text. Will report again in a few weeks

Very impressed with Issuu ...that showed immediately and I will defo add to list of sites I always use. Its also surely a good one for anyone with a adult content . I can see lot so people already using the site for that

ps Google drive I have excluded from results because I used for several other things

pps sorry for not pursuing this properly ....CV has somewhat distorted my workload not to mention lifestyle!!

So my positive takeaway is have a quick look at Issuu and for that matter poptype and see how they might be useful for you and your clients.

Remember that you can create multiple links at a time with top and tailed text on both these sites as opposed to one link at a time.

Another site I find that always indexs as did here as well is https://seositecheckup.com/ but thats a single link at a time and surrounding content is all SEO related
