Well, if this can help, here are some info about my own experience.
I have 3 big websites ranking for very high competition in google (78 Million results by example).
I own about 10 websites.
Launched a new one like 3-4 weeks ago and wanted to see if I could throw all the backlink juice on this newly created domain / website.
The new domain, after 3-4 weeks has 20K+ backlinks. It has 700 pages indexed in google. And still, when you type the domain name in google (not many competitors), its still ranked 25-30th (instead of being first...).
Well still waiting to see if it is going to improve, but I think that when you create a new domain, you need to be a bit more patient. What do you think ?

Wait, you're judging the results for the backlinks too fast.
I think if you want to get sandboxed you could do it easily with scrapebox. Just go harvest around really spammy sites such as meds and what not. Then post to their same sources all in one go.
Take your backlinks and use indexing methods. Then ping your backlinks.
Make sure to use the exact same anchor text for each backlink too.
Only link to the root domain.

I think by his last experiment that it only caused his competitor to rank higher in google by doing the above method (he tried scrapeboxing his competitors on spammy sites to see what would happen).
I for one embrace threads like these as they seem to be a dying breed in the SEO/IM world. Lets put to rest once and for all the "relevant/natural link building" strategies

Great idea dude! Hopefully this will stop the numerous daily "sandbox" threads that pop up
I'll have a dig around my HDD for some articles I wrote a year or so back, they never sold so have been sat there (this thread only made me remember them now). I'll get back on Saturday as I'm not near that PC at the moment if you want them of course, gratis.

Sorry dude, I'd love to help out with this, but these articles have disappeared. I'm actually doing some work for data recovery, so I might see if they can find them on here...might of accidentally deleted them..woops/
