Temp Forwarding, Perm Forwarding, and Masking...Need some advice!

Hey guys I was reading on a site that masking can hurt your search engine rankings...

Overall what has your guys experiences been with temp and perm forwarding as well as masking (a domain) when it comes to effecting your search engine rankings or getting indexed with google...

Any thoughts?
