Like the title says ladies and gentlemen. I want to know why you are into SEO! This is meant to be fun, and in no way do you have to divulge any details you don't want to.

However, let us know at least these few things:
- Why do you do SEO and IM?
- How long have you been doing it?
- Any goals?

Optional: For bragging rights mostly...
- Your age.
- How much you are currently earning.
- Anything else you think is relevant.
- What you are currently doing? eg. School, working, etc...

I'll start:
As of right now, I am a 20 year old college student working part-time, and in my 2nd year of my Computer Engineering degree. I've been into SEO for roughly the last 2 months, and have not made any money yet unfortunately. However, this is because I am still planning, and learning more before I start.

The reason I want to do SEO, is simply to support my habit...for cars. I am absolutely in love with building cars. I am very big into DSMs, which are more commonly known as the Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Eagle Talon here in the states. My current car is an Eagle Talon Turbo AWD. It's an amazing car, and before the engine threw a rod bearing, it pushed out 486hp/454tq at 30psi of boost, and ran consecutive 10.43 second passes in 1/4 at the semi-local track. As of right now, I am completely rebuilding the car from the ground up, and that is where my SEO money will go. I am also about 2,000 of adding another car to belt. A beautiful 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution 8. So there it is. Any other car nuts?

Some of us are here to make a living, some for a little weekend cash. Which one is it for you?

There is unlimited potential in what you can do after you know what your doing, both in regards to internet marketing and search engine optimization. It starts off as fun then it becomes work, it's overwhelming at times but competition is what makes the incentive for me.

No one likes to share their earnings, I don't really think that's relevant. There is no real limit, just take a look at Athleted1234 - the guy buys super cars every month. There are plenty of members here that make an good living online, some don't even have to lift a finger.

Work smart, then work hard. No matter what you do, stick with it.

Good luck.

All you've said is very true. As for the earnings part, it's definitely not a requirement, just letting people know that if they wish to brag, they can go ahead. But I mainly want to know the first three.

1) It's a great alternative from the standard, "regular, average" lifestyle with good money.
2) It's been so long.. I would say 5+ years.
3) My goal is to beat Google! ,,l,, Matt Cutts

i do seo because i do not have better products to sell myself so i help others and get payment

Hello.....
I do SEO for creating backlinks and to get traffic for my website and this
is interesting too that is why i do.........

I do because I like it!
It's fun
You do it when you want it
Passive income
Huge possibilities
You have lots of competitors fighting with you and you need to prove that you are the best.

I'm doing IM since 6 months.
My best moments was making 430€/month and 80€ in one day selling ad spaces in one of my niche websites.
Income from adsense...
My goal: millions of €€€ and $$$

I'm doing IM because I want to be rich... very rich to have freedom!! Freedom is the only reason!! :)

I started SEO by accident because I wanted to make money online.

I have found that I like the SEO portion so much better than actually running a website or worrying about getting people to take offers and click stuff.

I have made no money yet, well a little but not much but I am actually doing my 1st sales pitch in 2.5 hours to an offline client.

My join date was just a few months ago and like you I took a couple months just to study and test different techniques. Now I am at the point that I am confident I can help someone.

I have also been the type of guy that likes player creation/ team creation better than actually playing the game. I remember taking hours sometimes days to create individual players for each position with a custom team in Madden NFL. When I was done I would simulate the season and only actually play the game if the team made the playoffs. With computer RPG I would make dozens of characters and only level them a few levels before I got bored.

For some reason I am obsessive about the "how" and always finding the best attributes and techniques which I think makes me a good fit for SEO services.

I'm doing it because I want to be a pro golfer so any money I make will be put towards equipment, green fees, lessons training academys and eventually entry fees

partly for fun, partly for the money. not in it for short term gain, want to build up some high traffic websites to bring in money long-term.

I am a web designer of nearly 15 years. SEO is very related, a thorough understanding of website design/development and SEO comes naturally.

SEO is a higher paying, less competitive market that can easily be more expensive, no promises are allowed to be made and takes much more time. Unlike website design, if a 14 year old kid comes along agreeing to work for 1/3 my wage, it's easy to discount them as a waste of time. Unlike website design, it's harder to convince clients just using techie jargon. ("Back link," "social networking," "Google," etc are all understood terms by just about everybody. You cannot confuse people as easily with SEO as website design/development.)

After the web design market became saturated with 14 year old Myspace template designers, I decided to get into another niche. I've studied computer network security and most recently SEO. :)

I do it because no one will hire me and im hungry,
been doing it 3-4 months and goals to make enouth to eat every day. not there yet :-(

I do SEO for a living, work full time for a software company ( I do the SEM , seo included in that ) and have positioned several websites in Serp 1-5 .
The Only problem I see now with SEO is to convince the potential customer that good large Niche and competitive results can only be achieved with time and smart investment , this is 6 months for medium comp and 1 year for huge amount of searches.

I perform the art of SEO because I'm good at it and began at approximately the same time Google hit the streets

I'm 49

Earn 5 figures a month through consultation alone and that's about all you'll get from me ..

Respect, Goldie...
