I am new to teespring and was wondering if it is safe to promote teespring URL directly on FB ads? Or would they consider this as an affiliate link and ban my account'

hahaha bro!! Feel free to insert links. You can promote anything on FB as long as you pay them money, they won't ban you.

Yeah it is the safest and most used meathod used by many . But you should keep in mind while targeting your users , country , age , interest etc do some research on teespirng facebook ad .

Sometimes people just like to use URL shorteners for certain reasons. For some people they have tracking that is used through those URLs, although there are lots of other ways. Also some people are really concerned with the appearance of the URL, even though most people probably don't even see it.

Dont worry facebook knows a good part of their ad revenue comes from affiliates, they just don't mind if your campaign is legit.
